The art style and music pulls you in but the story lacks anything interesting at the beginning just leaves you confused for the most part it feels very dependent on the great art direction. Playing the arcade mode hoping for some fun at least since I couldnt bare the story no longer for lack luster patterns and okay soundtrack. Not to mention after beating each song it forces you back to mouse and keyboard which was just the cherry on top.
At its core, Unbeatable is a truly generational game trapped inside the body of a complete mess. I personally have had a fair time with the game despite my many, MANY near constant frustrations with it. The writing is thin and nonsensical and tries to make jokes but all of it kind of feels like it was run through google translate back and forth a few times because none of the conversations tend to string together resembling anything near a coherent moment to moment plot. The characters are written earnestly and with personality, but again, the bad writing makes it very hard to connect with any of them. The gameplay is really hit or miss. Sometimes it's so unclear what the player is supposed to do and the game is constantly throwing new prompts at you without context in sequences with so much visual clutter that it's nearly impossible to get them right on a first attempt. The larger set pieces at the end of chapters tend to hit despite that, and they are the real reason to continue playing the game even if it frustrates you. The music is absolutely excellent. It just unfortunately sets a tone that the game has a really hard time keeping up with, and it feels like a more polished product would do the music far greater justice in its presentation. The animation and art style are great too, but the clumsy gameplay and badly optimized larger 3d scenes cause frame drops and some spatial confusion about where your character is when the camera hard shifts from one perspective to another. I truly get why people love this game, as I actually have a lot of love for it too, but if you come into it expecting a polished, fun, generally enjoyable rhythm game I think it's going to disappoint you. Its really unfortunate that it cannot offer that even with the 2.0 patch having come out. I will say it seems to have alleviated some of the dialogue prompts crashing into each other and causing characters to speak simultaneously, but it's not fully alleviated as it still happens pretty often. If you're really willing to push through the confusion and frustration of the stuff I have listed here I think the game could be a good pick up on a sale but I don't think it's worth nearly $30 in the state its in currently. If you're an FLCL fan, some of the larger end of chapter parts of this game are just about the closest you can get to the OG series, and that is a worthwhile reason to check it out, but for all the time it feels that way, there is the other 85% of the time where it doesn't, so your mileage may vary.

was super excited for the game way back when it was first announced and got to play the demo but the story mode is super buggy with missing assets, jump cuts to different scenes mid gameplay with assets just popping in and super delayed dialogue long after the corresponding text has left the screen sadly i cant play it as much as i was hyped these problems killed my experience

If you're here for the arcade mode, you'll probably enjoy this game. If you're here for the story mode, know you'll encounter frequent performance issues, bugs, an unfinished feel and a pretty disjointed narrative. Nonetheless, it has a decent ending, but these frequent issues take me out of the experience and leave a bad taste in my mouth.
Pals, I wanna play a rhythm game, I don't want to skip past tons of millenial level writing.
When I tell you that I SOBBED throughout the entire final chapter and it truly felt like I'd been feeling. There are a few things I still don't quite understand, but this game has bangers, beautiful art, writing FULL of emotion and soul and somehow worms its way deep inside you
UNBEATABLE is a game that completely caught me by surprise. I didn't follow it nearly as much as I should have. I found a video of white label, decided to try it, and my computer couldn't run it well so I gave up. White label would stay in my library for all those years and constantly remind me of this. Eventually, I start hearing talk of the game close to release. I was getting excited since I was really wanting something new and a rhythm game and a story focused rhythm game sounded like it would be everything I wanted. I received money on Christmas that immediately went towards breakout edition. As soon as I started the game, I was already so amazed by this game. Invested in everything as soon as I saw the silly descriptions put on the difficulties. UNBEATABLE has everything I could want from loveable characters, fun dialog, a story with so much meaning, stupid minigames, and a rhythm game that I will be playing for so long. As far as the story goes, I don't go a day without thinking about it whether it's the major plot points or some random dialog that I get reminded of, but the arcade mode also is a reason I love this game so much. There's so many songs to play and so much more to come. I'm always waiting for the monthly updates to see what new song/s we get so that I have more to play on repeat. The promise of additional DLCs also give me a lot to hope for. I love this game so much and I hope that as many people get to play and experience it as possible. I love UNBEATABLE! <3
