Seit Update unspielbar.
just bought the dlc can't play because it crashes game 10/10
TLDR: Great intro to the genre, but if you want the full experience just learn and play Silent Hunter 3: Knights Cross. After about 100 hours of time spent in the dangerous waters of the Atlantic since Uboat's time in early access I have to say. Not bad... Its a perfectly serviceable and impressive title. When you consider it was made by only 4 people and is a love letter to the classics of the subsim genre like the Silent Hunter series it feels like it has achieved that vision, almost. Uboat is far from perfect whether its constant bugs, a clunky UI and AI, and some very questionable choices for those of us who prefer 90% realism, it kind of just bogs you down after a while. I so desperately wanted this game to be amazing and after a lot of time beating my head against the wall I've personally decided to shelve it until some things change. I've had so many great moments ruined by the clunky systems in game that it just doesn't feel worth it to play just to end up frustrated. For example there is a mission where you sneak into the harbor of Scapa Flow to destroy a British warship. Its based on historical precedent and is available fairly early in game circa 1939-1940, While it offers a fun challenge its certainly not great when you get there and realize that using full realism with the torpedo calculator (manually setting range, AOB, and speed) there is no way to set your torpedo's between impact and magnetic in full manual. INSTEAD you have to use the UI from the periscope and change the setting there and that completely kills the immersion. I know that this sounds nitpicky but if the game wants to allow you the full realism experience why is something as basic as this available not on the TDC (where it should be). In short the little issues with this game really start to add up and this game is already slow and methodical to begin with so it beats you down. While some supporters with rose tinted Kriegsmarine glasses pretend these issues don't matter they do and by pretending you just make it all the more obvious that the game is never going to be as good as Silent Hunter 3 so why bother?
Wouldnt advise playing unless you understand gameplay took 1 hour to find a ship and get sunk.
This game has more bugs than you can shake a stick at. Random "waiting..." screens that never end, Deck gun deciding to do unstoppable spins while attempting to fire causing the gunner to shoot your own ship repeatedly causing massive damage and crew deaths and many many more! I completed the same mission at least 7 times because it kept freezing. Don't buy this ♥♥♥♥.
i couldn't even complete the tutorial, i got soft locked TWICE. the submarine either got stuck on the base wall or in shallow waters. it's impossible to fix it without rolling back a save. i gave up, that's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ridiculous. also the german voice lines seem like they are made by a TTS engine. trash game
UBOAT is well-made in many parts. I'm new to the genre but came with 'experience' of many, many hours spent watching Silent Hunter 3 streams on Twitch. And definitely there was fun I had over the last several months. No crashes or major bugs were encountered, although the game is surprisingly heavy on a GPU on 4K. Why a negative review, though? Simply put, the more time I've spent with the game, the more obvious it becomes that the game is half-baked in many (if not all) places. 60 hours in, mid-1940 on my first playthrough with 70% difficulty, and I need Workshop mods to make the game playable and/or fun. A convoy does not react to a gas torpedo wake? Well, there is a free mod for that. The orbit view of the camera too close to being usable even at max distance? Mod it! Is ASDIC more precise than modern satellite tools? There is a mod too. I've heard that developers sometimes make mods an official part of the game, like realistic sinking. If what we have in the game right now is realistic, I believe before that mod ships just T-posed to the seafloor. I've been playing UBOAT since May and only recently randomly found a mod that enables the weather back. It's not a "Hot Coffee" kind of mod, a passion project of a dedicated fan. No, the developers just broke the weather system who knows how many months ago and never felt like fixing it. They are selling a DLC for the Type IX boat which needs a Steam Workshop mod to fix instant flooding of a compartment because developers left each value at "10.0". And the DLC has been out for 4 months. I purchased this game in 2021, back in the Early Access days but let the developers cook. It still tastes funny.
