Decent game overall, recommend this game if you like the "Silent Hunter" series but it is a SUPER buggy game especially when it comes to interacting with the port after docking after a mission
Most of the negative reviews can be boiled down to: I couldn't be bothered to spend half an hour learning how to play. Extremely fun, authentic game. You *will* lose subs, especially at the beginning, but as you learn how to play you'll go from struggling to survive, to hunting as you please.
Most recent update has broken the ports and I'm around 9 or so hours into the campaign and cannot continue because of this bug. I hope it gets fixed this game is so much fun but.. the fact that i cant even continue my game is actually so upsetting. Either hold off on buying until its fixed or buy it with the knowledge that if you are wanting to play story mode it probably will NOT work out for now. I will definitely change my review if this gets solved
This game is very much unfinished. Even given it is out of early access it still feels a bit bare bones. The game is insanely large for the ammount of content you are getting. Every single city looks the same for example. I would say that the size is mostly due to poor code optimalisation rather then content. For example, the ammount of ship types is honestly pathetic. After 1942 you will be sinking Liberty Ships and only Liberty Ships. There are only about 5 ship types which hurts the game greatly. Also, the game is lagy and experiences save bloat all the time. You run a campaign and by the time you end it you have a save file in the dozens of gigs. The world also seems dead and too centred around you and at the same time you dont matter whatsoever. German research is completely reliant of where you send your officers. At the same time you can sink millions of tons of shipping and there is absolutely nothing that happens becouse of that. Overall, I would buy this on sale and keep an eye out on whenever the developers fix the optimalisation and content gaps. Wait until then.
The latest update broke my hardcore save 70% through by lowering my realism settings
Be careful if ur epileptic, room flickering bug that makes to flash very quickly.
Too complicated. Too much going on. Difficult to use.
UBOAT, I use to love this game so much. BUT THE NEW MENU IS GARBAGE. ITS SO COMPLICATED FOR NO REASON!
Currently this feels like someone created a beautiful naval warfare simulation and then just keeps piling loads of garbage onto it. I always physically cringed when doing anything in this game besides the actual navigation/pursuit/combat/evasion (which is all awesome), but with this recent update, the slop surrounding it may just be too much.
