About
This is Tyr, a tank shooter where positioning, strategic decision-making, and mastery of unique abilities win.
Tyr features a roster of specialized armored vehicles and pilots. You’ll take control of treaded and hover tanks alike as you angle & position for defense, and rumble and glide across the battlefield.
Each vehicle also offers its own tech tree and ammo & component slots, affording you the ability to upgrade and evolve your ride to suit your playstyle. You may even be able to change up your vehicle’s unique keystone tech to dynamically alter your personal meta.
Each vehicle features a unique power that impacts Tyr’s moment-to-moment play on the battlefield. A tank may have the ability to blink several vehicle lengths forward or back, send out a sonar pulse to spot enemies, or overcharge its engine to ram directly into an opponent and deal massive damage.
In Tyr, you and your opponents will only be visible when within range or while making enough noise. Deciding when to push forward and when to fire from cover could mean the difference between staying hidden and revealing your position to the entire enemy team, so play carefully.
Tyr will test your mental mettle, patience, and teamwork, as deliberate play beats whoever can fire the fastest.

I've played WoT on and off for years now. This is everything good that WoT has to offer without any of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ especially tank tiers you just get the tank and do its thing no needing to worry about being low tier or buying ammo or repairing your tank, or grinding out XP to get modules to make the tank actually playable, and then unlocking the tank and hopefully that tank doesn't suck, it's like if every tank was a T11 tank in WoT. The grind is not bad at all, games are 10 mins max, the abilities are fun to use. I almost have every tank and most of my tanks are at least level 20 already, I had 6 hours on the playtest before this. A lot of the negative reviews come from people who haven't played much, haven't really learned how to play as there is a learning curve if you haven't played a vehicle combat game like this before (Warthunder doesn't count that ♥♥♥♥ is like CoD but with tanks). This game is a ton of fun if you're patient with learning what tank you want to play, and learning the maps. Yeah you can get paired up with some bad teammates, but that goes for any game that is teambased like this. I really enjoy this game but there are some things that I definitely do not like. Cons: In a squad ready is set on by default, kinda defeats the purpose of readying up automatically if I'm not ready. No chat unless in a clan, now this I think is also kind of a good thing, as people (at least in WoT) are very toxic, for no reason and it's nice to not have to deal with people messaging me because I'm trying a new tank and died quickly because I'm learning the tank. However not being able to talk with the team can be annoying, though so far I've really felt like the ping system is doing a good enough job even though it could be better. Joining a clan requires discord being linked to your account, this to me isn't to big of a deal as I don't plan on joining a clan anyways. Clans do get extra territory scans which are pretty much just daily missions to get extra rewards, and where you will get most of your credits, but I've found playing with friends and using salutes on each other has really sped up the grinding process. It is still very unfortunate for players who do not have friends who are interested in playing the game, as they will have to connect to discord to find players to play with and possibly get that boost from getting salutes. Alpha also requires discord, I am not entirely sure that you need to connect your discord account, but you do need to join their discord server to report feedback for alpha tanks (tanks that are being tested are alpha tanks) Now I do think this game isn't going to be for everyone, but I think a lot of the negative reviews I've seen from the game are a little unfair, and wanted to give my 2 cents from someone who has played WoT for the past decade at least as this game feels like a direct call out to wargaming, and how they treat the game, and their players. I'm really looking forward to what's next and hoping that an esports scene can really shine with this game.
Total sleeper hit, I'm not a tank game person. It's fun. There's a 8v8 gamemode and you play it. I got a tank that floats, and I go "wheee" whilst I shoot people who are more talented than I am. It's also free I guess? Good game.

This game is a masterpiece. 80% of the neg reviews i see are people either complaining about bad teammates, (youll find that in any multiplayer game) or people complaining about a lack of chat. (i think its smart not to include chat, as you wont have the time to type much in detail, and the pings get across pretty much all the information youd need too, I.e, "Going here!" "shoot this enemy!" "Thank you!" "Advance!", etc. plus, the chat censoring would just be an unnecessary annoyance for the devs, considering that there is no censoring program that is good enought to the point where noone will complain about it.) The community is chill, the game is fun, there's little to no meta, so STOP LOOKING FOR A REASON NOT TO TRY TYR and join in on the fun!
I like the game, the tanks with some armor for angling or some team utility like scouting or repairs, are definitely my favorites but Phantoms and Arks can be toxic af. Dealing with invisible stuff sniping you, scouting you or just hiding from you and drawing the game out as long as possible doesn't feel like a tank game, at least not when half the opponents are just that. And that's even before considering the aimbot problems the game is already starting to have; getting sniped from spawn as soon as you can move or getting sniped by three different tanks simultaneously while still stealthed since the start without even firing a shot or taking damage prior. Still rare, but obvious as heck when it happens and quite terrible as there's no counters. The game could also use more maps as there's few and the one with the crack in the center is not fun.
Game is great. Could it be better? Yes. But the bones are there and the game feels good to play. You can take it as seriously or as silly as you want. Many different play styles to choose from with a fun progression system. Youre rewarded for playing other tanks and playstyles as well. There is in fact very little comms, and youll have to rely on pings or your 3-man squad. The pings need to be more fleshed out, especially if there will be no in game chat. For an Early Access Free to Play game, this is the new bar. (I have never played WoT or War Thunder)
