TurbOT Racing

Do you like Robots? Do you like Racing Games? Do you like Racing Games from the mid/late 90s to early 2000s? If you answered 'Yes, Yes, Yes!' (you dirty dog...) to any of these questions you may want to give TurbOT Racing a try. Although the game's depth is limited (i.e. you seem to only have one style of racer / robot to use. You can upgrade his speed, special, health, and the like... but as far as customizing his parts -which is a huge staple of both mech and racing culture- the features seem slim to nil.) You can change the colorway of one of his parts *ahem* but in a future update hopefully a new racer style or more variety in the main character is introduced. I was worried at first that TurbOT's levels would all feel the same but thankfully most of the game's 8 tracks are unique, from an outdoor racing arena to a narrow tunnel system to a cluttered downtown city area. That being said, some of the tracks also felt like they were just "more cluttered with obstacles" or darker versions of other tracks, with the sewer / tunnel level and the outdoor racing arena's reappearance being the most obvious offenders. All of that aside TurbOT has been an enjoyable, well-made racing game. It has a mechanic of sliding into and out of turns by using the left and right triggers on a Microsoft Gamepad... and balancing your overheating of these with LB and RB, respectively. The game also has an OVERCLOCK vision mode by hitting the down button on the dpad, though how this accumulates I couldn't tell you. From what I can tell it ~might~ (??) give you a speed boost but its main purpose seems to be highlighting through walls all of the upcoming barriers you will have to quickly navigate. This effect looks cool, and provides some nice splashes of color as you cruise along at a brisk pace through the game's environments. Although the game could use some more track / robot variety and has some absent features seen in other racing games (i.e. the option to look behind you or an overhead indicator of where you are versus your opponents on the track), at its best moments TurbOT Racing does what all other decent racing games accomplish, in that it immerses you into the rhythm of narrowly avoiding upcoming obstacles while going as fast as you can. Thankfully the game's smooth (albeit somewhat archaic) graphics and nice, fitting electronic soundtrack along with its course variety have kept me coming back to see the enitrety of the game. I'm glad I saw it as a new release and hope other racing fans will give it a try for its low price. 左右スライディングを駆使して障害物を避けつつ走り抜けるロボットレースゲーム。 数回のミスが敗北に繋がる緊張感や爽快感を損なわない程度に配置された障害物、ロボットのアップグレード、カラーリング変更、全体的に完成度は高いように感じた。 ただし乗用車がミサイルの如く飛来するのだけは注意。 接近警告も無いため油断をすれば死角の後ろから一切の躊躇無く粉砕される。 まぁミサイル乗用車はともかく、お手頃価格の一人用でスピーディーなレースゲームを求めているなら十分な出来。 おすすめ。

This game has something that you do not see often, giant mechs without weapons. Requires great reaction time but still a really fun and cheap game although possibly in the too hard basket for me. Definitely worth a look while on sale.

the controlling concept of this game is EPIC and i love it! lightposts and all kind of signs are the worst opponents of the game! XD all in one a very fun racer for between! i would love to play this with friends!

This game looks appealing from the onset. That is until you realise the major flaws that make you want to quit instantly. The controls are absolutely garbage with Keyboard and Mouse (haven't tried a controller) and it's almost impossible to avoid clashing with terrain and damaging your robot. This brings us to another major flaw that is your money. You start with $5000 to spend on upgrading your robot and winning a race (the first one anyway) nets you $500. However, whenever you damage your robot during the race, you must pay for the damages not only from the racing money, but from the money you already own! Finally, the manual inside the game doesn't really explain what your thrusters do and overclock does. Other flaws are the limited options in the "options" menu, no difficulty levels on the other robots and the sole option of customising one robot. I would recommend against this one.

It's an interesting lil game I'll give it that. Runs pretty well for me on 2012-2014 hardware. I'd say worth giving it a shot for the 50 cents for some unique bipedal robo racing
