"Tumble Toys: Aviation" is a "fly through the rings" arcade flight game, and it's an unambitious and un-fun mess of a game. I mean... games like DCS and Flight Simulator X exist, you know. And this... a rather poor cousin on the same platform. Amateur developers often work with the kind of false impression that their game is the first time it's ever been done, no other games exist at all... they're just unaware that gamers have A LOT of competition for their time, and it's almost always better than whatever this is.
What do you do in the game? Fly through the rings with a variety of low poly toy aircraft/paper planes in some kids bedroom. Yawn.
The game is really simple and unambitious in terms of implementation, more of a tech demo or one of those cases where an amateur developer spends $100 to publish something on Steam Direct to see if it's possible. Yes, obviously it's possible. A proof of concept, tech demo, or something that's less than a little blip on the radar isn't offering anything truly valuable to gamers.
In terms of visuals, this features fairly low quality low poly 3D graphics which will deter a lot of gamers, understandably. Gaming is a visual medium, and while some developers struggle with creating high quality visuals, failing to do so is a disservice to gamers. It's very difficult to recommend bad looking games.
It's free... now, but it wasn't before. The developer was charging $1 USD for this.
Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It's a nice gesture for the game to be given away for free, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. It's also a bit of a slap in the face to anyone who paid money for this... nobody got refunded.
Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 3 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away.
Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it?
Nope. This isn't worth downloading. There's no financial cost up-front, but you'd still be spending your time and a little hard drive space on a product that's far from the best. There's thousands of better alternatives on Steam.
