4.5/10 Minimalistic roguelike TLDR: A simplified sidescroller-like minimalistic roguelike somewhat resembling Desktop Dungeons. It's in a pretty rough state and hard to rate as it's still in Early Access. The dev seems to be still making major changes. Neutral vote Good: + free + there is an attempt to make a minimalistc RPG here So-so: +/- the pixelated gfx look like something you'd make in MS Paint. Which is okay in some other games like e.g. Baba is You. I'm certainly not fond of this style here but maybe it's a question of tastes +/- UI are stubs, with dialogs overlapping other dialogs, text labels not properly fitting etc Bad: - character movement is just about pressing A and D to slide (mostly from left to right). In a sidescroller game one would expect jumps. Or maybe a 2D top-down view. As it is, with just 1 axis of movement (even less, just moving from left to right) it's just too basic - combat generally resembles Desktop Dungeon: you attack, and the enemy instantly attacks back. The problem here is with the controls: you have to move over an attack button that's placed in the world to perform the attack. To use a magic attack, you have to move to the "magic" button, also in the world. But it's placed too far away to the right, and while you stand on it you don't even see the stats of the enemies - the system of purchasing upgrades feels ridiculous because you can't choose items you buy. At any given time you can only pay to replace your item (e.g. helmet) with a random new item which can be worse that the one you have equipped. This means, you keep wasting currency to randomly re-roll items, and it seems that they don't even get better than some cap set by your current progress in the dungeon. Instead, pricing would be enough to balance gear power with the strength of enemies. A very fun and addicting Rougelike that is a little confusing at first but you'll quickly catch on and have a great time...
