It's pretty good. I wish there was more variety in enemies but the bosses were cool.
"Toon TD" may look like a promising free tower defense game, but it's really a badly made (and possibly asset flipped) tower defense game. What do you do in the game? Put down towers and experience why properly polishing game balance is so important for any game. Here, while all the elements are there, nothing fits right, towers cost too much, income too little, some enemies are paper and others near-invulnerable... this is really unpleasant to play. If you look at games like Kingdom Rush, even though the mobile app 2D implementation is kinda weak, they nailed the balance and polish for the towers so everything feels really satisfying. Toon TD is the complete opposite of that. In terms of visuals, this features fairly low quality low poly 3D visuals which will deter a lot of gamers, understandably. Gaming is a visual medium, and while some developers struggle with creating high quality visuals, failing to do so is a disservice to gamers. It's very difficult to recommend bad looking games. On the matter of pricing and value for gamers, most "free" games on Steam aren't really free. There's often nasty mobile app cash shops, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of shady pricing schemes that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable, or something you might want to spend your time on. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 8 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, even when the game is free, it's still not enough.

not good ,not even fun
I must have a skill issue because the first level beat me harder than my Dad for the last hour.
I am going to try and format this nicely. All remarks are from what I found on the first level of the game. I was only able to beat the first level after 1.3 hours GAME BREAKING: If your frames are below 30fps (or maybe just 25/20) the projectiles have a 50% chance or higher to just miss their targets and instead "orbit" the targets. Which as the game is already far to difficult for a TD game, this bug makes it impossible. This also applies to the foes themselves, where they will spazz out randomly, but thats rarely enough to give you an advantage. Towers: Chaos - Great but the first level of it has such a limited range that there are only 2 places where a level 1 chaos tower can do anything. Though the chain attack does well for the first few levels before being meaningless once you have enough for a cannon. Poison - Good to have a tower or two that can keep targets poisoned, any more and its not good because poison (from I can tell) doesn't stack and its hit damage isn't great. Cannon - Seems to be the best tower along with the Big hit tower. It has good damage, range, APS and has AoE Flame/Holy - This is the big hitter and does quite nicely. Freeze - It feels like the slow isn't slowing them as much as it says. Game play: Tower placements in the first level felt subpar, they just felt too far away from road, and felt like there could have been an extra row so you could have towers right next to the road. I'm not sure what the first boss was doing with the things you had to click on (which is a bit annoying due to the click boxes for the towers) Tower Targeting seems really random and that could be partly due to the lack of targeting control, which some towers, like the poison tower need targeting control to poison foes better. The Boss (for the first level) is quite hard, as others have compared it to dark souls, I have to agree, even with slowing towers and pretty much just Holy/Flame towers and clicking on whatever the thing it was spawning, it still got right next to my last tower. Economy: Starting gold and income is too slow at the beginning. The starting 100 gold does not allow for much tower choice, and as the higher gold values for foes are tied to higher HP values, which causes a downward snowball, where you need the gold to get the towers to kill the tough foes, but to do that you need to kill the tough foes. This could be alleviated by having some weaker but more valuable foes. There also isn't any end of wave gold income, which helps with in-game economy as well. UI: There is no restart button. There is no range view for the towers BEFORE you buy them. Music button does not do anything. Suggestion - Add a speed up button. Side note: This has made me much more confident in my own abilities as a Dev. I may come back and clean this review up some, but I most likely won't. Conclusion: This game has a lot of issues, if you want a very simple Dark Souls TD game this has it. But I wouldn't suggest this over any other TD game I know of. I also want to say, this can be made well, it just will take some time and adding some more leeway to make the game more enjoyable.
This game got me hooked for a while.
Not bad :)
