i would gladly give this game a middle road review if that was an option.
this game is fine. if you liked the first one, but in a new location, it is more of the same.
first, the story just... didn't click with me? i have no idea what i was doing other than going around and fighting bad guys. you have the criminals who do mean things, the crazy people who ruin everything, and the evil military that wants to steal things. but once you do everything, there now ends up being a super secret double evil military that is trying to bring back the plague from the first game or something?
the game looks fine. it kind of goes like, half of it is fine, than the other half looks stylized or something. it feels a little jarring a bit when some characters look more like cartoons than people.
the maps and areas are not too bad. having recently visited DC the place i went to honestly are pretty accurate, even things like inside museums and stuff. i don't know if the differences are just for the game itself or if things have changed around a little since this game came out. but it was kind of fun to see monuments and the like from roughly similar angles i saw them from in person, so that is nice.
a lot of missions, or side missions kind of just felt like chores? they weren't really interesting, and story missions are fewer than it feels from memory of the first game. but the bigger missions are much more interesting with nicer areas to explore or better set pieces.
the gameplay, from where i got to before this review, it's fine. like i said, if you enjoyed the first, this one is more of the same. a couple more classes for weapons, specializations, and a few other things that does help expand or make the game more varied. one big change that felt annoying at first, but turned out to be fine is attatchments are no longer an object to carry but something that once you aquire or craft becomes infinite and available for any gun that is compatible with it.
i really didn't pay attention to the music so i can't say if it was good or not.
uh, i am sure there might be something else i could bring up but, it kind of is just like... you want to run around empty city streets occasionally running into small groups of guys to keep you busy while you just run in a straight line?
