TimeLab, das futuristische Zeitreiselabor für den geneigten Historiker. VR-Dynamix hat hier ein interessantes Bildungsprogramm auf den Markt gebracht. Wir stehen zu Beginn in einem Apartment, dass vollgestopft ist mit futuristischen wissenschaftlichen Maschinen und Geräten, dazwischen stehen aber auch Spielautomaten und jede Menge anderes Zeug herum. Nachdem wir uns umgeschaut haben und den Anweisungen gefolgt sind, starten wir die VR-Maschine in der Mitte des Raumes. Zur Auswahl stehen uns zur Zeit nur zwei Ziele, die imaginäre Burg Falkenstein und die Mondlandung mit Apollo 11. Ich hoffe, dass in Zukunft noch mehr Content folgen wird. Bevor wir aber zu dem gewünschten Ort reisen, können wir uns noch ausführlich über diesen informieren. Dafür steht uns jeweils eine Datenbank aus Audios, Bildern und Holografien zur Verfügung. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3287627419 Für mich war tatsächlich die Führung und die Reise zur Burg Falkenstein die interessantere, da ich bereits mehrere male mit der Apollomission auf dem Mond war. Sind wir am gewählten Ort angekommen, werden wir erst mit einer audiovisuellen Führung empfangen. Die Audios sind alle in der im Menü gewählten Landessprache zu hören. Nach der Runde können wir uns frei bewegen und uns umschauen und auch die Audios erneut abrufen. Als keines Goodie schaltet man mit einem Besuch jeweils ein Minispiel für einen der Automaten und ein Quiz frei und erhält an einem 3D-Drucker Zugriff auf Modelle aus den besuchten Orten. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3287630946 Das hört sich alles sehr gut an und funktioniert auch wirklich ordentlich und ist unterhaltsam sowie interessant und lehrreich. Leider ist die Steuerung nur auf Teleportation beschränkt, dass alteingesessene VR-Nutzer doch etwas enttäuscht sein könnten. Auswählbare freie Bewegung wäre schon schön gewesen. Schön ist, dass das Fingertracking der Index-Controller funktioniert, aber leider nicht gebraucht wird. Das eine ist ein schlechtes Towerdefencespiel und das andere ein Spaceshiplander. Um die Spiele zu starten, stecken wir eine Kasette in den Spielautomaten und erwarten dort auf dem Bildschirm das Spiel spielen zu können, stattdessen werden wir in eine andere virtuelle Welt gebeamt. Das ist schade, auch wenn das Spiel mit dem Apollolander Spaß gemacht hat. Leider ist auch die Grafik, sehr unterschiedlich. Die meisten Texturen sind nicht sehr hoch aufgelöst und das Towerdefencespiel sieht einfach nur altbacken aus. We start off in an apartment crammed with futuristic scientific machines and devices, but there are also slot machines and lots of other stuff around. After looking around and following the instructions, we start the VR machine in the middle of the room. There are currently only two destinations to choose from, the imaginary Falkenstein Castle and the moon landing with Apollo 11. I hope that more content will follow in the future. But before we travel to the desired location, we can find out more about it. A database of audio, images and holographs is available for this purpose. For me, the guided tour and the journey to Falkenstein Castle were actually the more interesting ones, as I had already been to the moon several times with the Apollo mission. When we arrive at the chosen location, we are first greeted with an audiovisual tour. The audios are all in the language selected in the menu. After the tour, we can move around freely, look around and listen to the audios again. As an added bonus, each visit unlocks a mini-game for one of the machines and a quiz and gives you access to models from the places you visit on a 3D printer. This all sounds very good and works really well and is entertaining, interesting and educational. Unfortunately, the controls are only limited to teleportation, which might leave veteran VR users a little disappointed. Selectable free movement would have been nice. It is nice that the finger tracking of the index controller works, but unfortunately it is not needed. Beaming objects from a distance, e.g. the basketball, into your hand is a bit tricky, but aiming is very fine. The two mini-games that we can unlock so far are very different. One is a bad tower defense game and the other is a spaceshiplander. To start the games, we insert a cassette into the slot machine and expect to be able to play the game on the screen, but instead we are beamed into another virtual world. This is a shame, even if the game with the Apollolander was fun. Unfortunately, the graphics are also very different. Most of the textures are not very high resolution and the tower defense game just looks old-fashioned. Well, I really didn't want to believe it. However, this VR app has proven, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that the Apollo 11 Lunar landing was indeed faked by the US shadow government led by none other than Richard Nixon himself. You can view this deep fake in glorious VR with technology obviously stolen from the commies.

TimeLab is a free to play VR educational experience. It worked on my Index and HTC Vive system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. Has 2 history labs included with the program. Both free labs were pretty interesting, understandable and well done. Took about 50 minutes to go through both labs. Try this free VR experience for the great Apollo 11 moon landing lab.

"TimeLab" is a mediocre "educational" VR tech demo with a couple of minigames and not much else. Once more we can see developers have failed to understand the most important rule of VR games... if the only thing that makes the game cool is VR support, then the game is not cool. The graphics in this game are passable, but could be better. And while it's vital for any game to have impressive visuals (gaming is a visual medium, after all), there's more to a game than just the graphics. To be worth a gamers time, the game must match top tier visuals with top tier gameplay, and that's not happening here. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 12 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? This is a "maybe" experience... if you have a lot of free time on your hands and nothing else to do, why not? But for the purposes of a review, this isn't something I can say everyone must try. It's not quite there. Valve doesn't give us a "maybe" option in reviews, but if they did, that's what I'd choose for this.

It's a virtual museum. It's cool I guess, and it's free, so can't really complain. There's really not much interactivity here. You have to install the free DLC to get content, and each does contain a single minigame. There are also quizzes about the museum pieces. I liked the Apollo 11 stuff a lot, it shows just how insanely improbable that mission was, and they succeeded.

Sieht sehr vielversprechend aus. Eine VR-Erfahrung, in welcher man zu unterschiedlichen Orten reisen kann. Aktuell auf den Mond (erste Mondlandung) und in ein Schlafgemach auf Burg Falkenstein. Man kann direkt dorthin reisen, oder erst das Labor aufsuchen, bestimmte Dinge aktivieren, und dann auf die Reise gehen. An den Reiseorten kann man sich sehr viele Infos anhören und ansehen. Man kann auch frei herum "laufen" (Teleport). Das Labor ist interessant gestaltet. Die Grafik finde ich stimmig. Das was man greifen und benutzen und aktivieren kann, funktioniert. Wäre schön, wenn dies ausgebaut wird und zukünftig weitere Reisen möglich sind. Gerne auch in eine futuristische Zukunftswelt. ( ... momentan kostenlos spielbar ... )

Cool and informative game. It is fun to explore the hub, the castle and the moon with the free DLC's. Downsides: it was a bit nauseating to play with the Quest 2, at least for me. And the voice and some paintings are made with AI, which is always a bit of a bummer, but it's not too bad in this case. The environments are very well made and the information given is very interesting. There are also quizzes and some fun minigames. It's free, so it's worth a try. Just remember to download both of the free DLC's.
