Timber! The Logging Experts is an industrial equipment simulator where you get to operate various real world logging equipment, cut down trees, and have a nice casual gaming experience. Internally branded as Forestry, it should be taken as a cautionary note when the developers of a game don't even know what it's called. The following game is consistent with this disorganisation... it crashes immediately if you try to change the resolution from the default. Because the game is unplayable, I cannot recommend it. For the developers to keep this up on Steam for a whopping $11.50, despite knowing the game is unplayable, that's simply unethical.
Darf "Forstmaschinen" klar empfehlen.
If there were a "Meh" classification thats where this game would rate.
The concept is awesome. I personally love simulators like this, Farm Sim, American Truck Sim etc... However as other reviews have stated this game is very buggy, and almost unplayable. The graphics on "Ultra" are about equivilent to a 16-bit game shadows are very blocky. Several times I had the white wash effect that I have no clue why it did it, but it made the whole game appear as a negative image... I had to restart the game to get it working again, and shortly after doing that, I ended up having the same issue. Another game restart to fix it. On the second mission, you have to tow one of your vehicles, it tells you to back up to the vehicle and once in position press the indicated key to connect, which I did, and then... I am not ever sure what happened but both vehicles were stuck together and bounced all over the screen, in and out of trees, upside down right side up, backwards and forwards. At this point I called it a day. I will keep an eye on updates, hopefully they can get some of the bugs fixed then maybe a bit of a graphics improvement and I'll reevaluate and update my review.
Klein, fein und OK. Meinen Kindern hats gleich mal Spaß gemacht :). Die Kamera zickt zwar gerne mal beim Baumheben, aber das stört nicht so schlimm...
Disgusting mass tree-killing! Big NO.
Timber! The Logging Experts, developed by Stonehill Games and published by UniqueGames, is a straightforward forestry simulation that aims to give players a hands-on look at the process of logging through a simplified and accessible format. It centers on operating heavy machinery, cutting down trees, and transporting logs, presenting these activities through a mission-based structure that is easy to understand but limited in scope. While the concept itself has clear potential, the game ultimately feels more like a basic interpretation of logging work rather than a fully developed simulation. The gameplay loop is built around a series of tasks that involve felling trees, processing them, and moving materials to designated areas. Players are given access to different types of forestry equipment, each designed for a specific purpose. Learning how these machines function is one of the more engaging aspects of the experience, as it introduces a sense of progression through familiarity and control. The mechanics are intentionally simple, allowing players to quickly grasp how to operate each vehicle without the need for extensive instruction. Missions provide the primary structure for progression, guiding players through different scenarios and objectives. These tasks offer a sense of direction, but they tend to follow a predictable pattern. Most objectives revolve around repeating the same core actions with slight variations, and the game does not introduce enough new mechanics or challenges to keep the experience evolving. As a result, what initially feels like a structured progression can begin to feel repetitive after a relatively short time. There is a modest attempt to add variety through elements such as equipment management and occasional machine breakdowns, which require players to adapt and continue their work under slightly different conditions. However, these additions are minor and do not significantly alter the overall gameplay loop. The experience remains focused on the same fundamental tasks, limiting the sense of depth that players might expect from a simulation of this type. Visually, the game presents a functional but unremarkable environment. The forest settings are appropriate for the theme, but they lack detail and variation, which contributes to a sense of monotony over time. The overall presentation feels dated, with basic textures and animations that do little to enhance immersion. While the visuals serve their purpose, they do not add much to the experience beyond providing a backdrop for the gameplay. The pacing reflects the simplicity of the design. Each mission unfolds at a steady, predictable rate, with little variation in intensity or complexity. This can make the game feel relaxed and easy to approach, but it also highlights its lack of progression. Without new systems or evolving challenges, the experience can become stagnant, making it difficult to stay engaged for extended sessions. Control and responsiveness are another area where the game shows its limitations. While the mechanics are easy to understand, they can feel clunky in execution, particularly when precision is required. This can lead to moments of frustration, especially during tasks that depend on accurate positioning or timing. Combined with the repetitive nature of the gameplay, these issues can affect the overall flow of the experience. Despite its shortcomings, Timber! The Logging Experts does offer a certain niche appeal. For players specifically interested in the idea of operating forestry equipment in a simplified setting, it provides a straightforward and low-pressure environment to explore that concept. In short sessions, the process of completing tasks and handling machinery can be mildly satisfying, particularly for those who prefer uncomplicated gameplay. Ultimately, Timber! The Logging Experts is a game built on a concept that is never fully realized. It introduces the basics of logging work but lacks the depth, variety, and refinement needed to make the experience compelling over time. While it may provide brief enjoyment for players curious about its premise, it struggles to maintain interest beyond its initial novelty. Rating: 4/10
