About

Timber Panic is a cozy, stylized lumberjack game where you cut trees, upgrade your tools, and unwind in nature’s calm. Start with a simple axe, gather logs, and expand your clearing into new zones with unique trees and upgrades for stamina, inventory, and tools.
Enjoy relaxing sounds — birds, rustling leaves, flowing water — as time shifts from sunny mornings to starry nights. No time limits, no enemies — just you, your axe, and a peaceful backyard to grow at your own pace.

Start small, but unlock new areas as you progress. Discover more trees, new opportunities, and a growing environment that evolves around you.
Enhance your axe, boost your stamina, and increase your inventory space. Every upgrade makes you faster, stronger, and more efficient.
Immerse yourself in a peaceful, hand-crafted world filled with soft colors, natural ambient sounds, and relaxing weather effects.
Every chop, every sale, every upgrade contributes to a rewarding sense of progress. Watch your humble plot transform into a thriving woodcutting haven.

Forget checkpoints and auto-saves. In Timber Panic, your trusty wooden outhouse at the back of the yard is where progress gets written down. (We sneak in a few auto-saves too, but shh...)
It’s humble, a little odd — but it belongs here. Every visit marks a new page in your cozy chopping adventure.

There has been a massive fire that destroyed most of the surrounding forest. With wood suddenly in short supply, prices have surged and everyone is trying to profit from the situation. You decide to join in, realizing that the trees in your backyard, which until now served only as a source of shade, might finally be useful. Armed with your trusty axe, you head out to start chopping. The gameplay is straightforward. Approach a tree and hold the button until it falls. After that, haul the wood to the truck parked in your garage and sell it. There are six types of trees, each offering a different payout. In addition to logs, you sometimes collect extra items like leaves, branches, or resin. You can also process certain trees into planks, which take longer to produce but earn you significantly more money. Cash is essential for upgrading your chopping power, which in turn unlocks new tree types. You can also upgrade your backpack to carry more items before needing to sell them, as well as increase your stamina, which depletes both when swinging the axe and when sprinting. Just as important is investing in tree spawn rate and the number of trees that appear in your yard. No matter what you choose to upgrade, each subsequent improvement becomes more expensive. Stamina must be replenished frequently, and although the cost is low, it is a constant maintenance expense you will likely handle after every trip to the truck. Running out of stamina damages your health, and if your health reaches zero, you lose your money and your entire inventory. To avoid this setback, you can save your progress at the outhouse. While planks are time-consuming to create, they sell for a generous amount and are also crucial for expanding your backyard with additional planting plots. They are equally important for upgrading your workbench. A better workbench enables you to brew potions using the extra tree items you gather, granting temporary boosts such as faster tree growth or reduced stamina usage. However, expanding your plot is generally the more valuable investment, as potions tend to be less impactful and not particularly engaging. Overall, the gameplay loop is simple and doesn’t demand much time. Its casual design allows you to progress comfortably within a few hours, though the repetitive nature of chopping and hauling means it’s best enjoyed in short sessions.

Got recommended the game, and it was about 4 USD when it finally released, so I bought it; didn't really expect much or get much. the gameplay loop is nice, but nothing much to write home about. there are a few obvious bugs/typos that I saw with no seeming way to report them (Spruce Logs > Planks recipe talks about Birch instead of spruce; and Beech Logs > Planks recipe has the locked icon stuck over it after unlock; every now and then the trees interact weirdly with the physics engine, resulting in trees falling partially through the ground upon spawn, or at an odd angle relative to the ground, or fully horizontal floating.) It also appears that some of the game assets are AI art, though I couldn't be certain overall. The game overall seems like it would be a good Early Access title, but not a full release game. I would rate it a 5/10 compared to what it was marketed as. I would say that if it was an Early Access title, 7/10 Some features that I would like to see added: the ability to sell partial amounts of things in your inventory instead of all of it. It is very annoying when I am saving up for something with both money and planks as a cost that I have to sell only logs and by-product; very annoying for the early game
Do you recommend this game? Maybe, but: I checked out this demo when it first came out and I was pretty excited about what was going to be next for the game. When it came out it was four dollars and that a decent price for me to give it a look. The art style is great, sky visuals are beautiful, the sounds and chopping is good, not grating when listening/seeing it the whole time. The upgrading system was fine, I did not care for the health draining when stamina gets too low but I could live with it. It has a small backstory which was enough for me and did not need to be anything in depth. I wish there was something to do about the night time other than sleeping, like maybe you could buy a torch, headlamp or something else to light up the yard. If you do sleep through the night, I could get it if it also replenished your stamina but paying just to pass the night time was not really worth it to me. I was fine that the game was short, very minimal to it. Beyond what was mentioned above, I had two other thoughts: 1. I wish there was an ending, just something. I had everything upgraded, everything unlocked and up to max and there was nothing. It felt unfulfilling. I did not know what to do, obviously I just ended the game but it felt unfinished. 2. Steam achievements. There was enough about this game that there could have been plenty of achievements, upgrading everything to max, chopping a certain number of each type of tree, unlocking certain areas, having all the potions going at once (even though it would only allow two at a time), hiring people when that is a thing, and reaching the end (if that becomes a thing) There are plenty of games I wish I could give a recommendation of maybe, and this is one of them. This game has a potential to be pretty great for a short, casual thing. Right now, it is just fine. The nighttime and lack of ending are the biggest things to me
it's a techical demo not a game 3 type of upgrades, plot to buy and just boring cut -> sell loop Why iy's not marked as early access if it's not finished and there is a roadmap in description?
