6/10 Block puzzle with an occult theme, good enough for fans of the genre, but mediocre as a game. What is it: A block puzzle game, you must place blocks of different shapes into a grid. Instead of abstract blocks in an abstract grid, you are a witch placing ingredients in a cauldron/on the summoning floor/on the reading table, for some kind of spell. There are three different chapters, each with a size and a theme. The first batch is with small puzzles, up to 5x5, you’re cooking up magic potions. The second batch is with 7x7 levels, and you are summoning evil creatures. And the last batch is with 8x8 levels, and you are fortune telling. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3304452430 If you don’t mind the occult theme, the game is decently done, on par with the Steam favorites Cats/Dogs Organized Neatly. Good levels with a decent difficulty curve, good QoL, neat graphics and music, and a well chosen theme. Each new discovered shape gets a funny introduction, and you’ll get to meet drooling snails, black and white cats, severed fingers, cerberi, mandrake roots, and many other things. And when you pick them up, they are animated and move in funny ways. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3304452389 Once again, warning, the game has occult themes: inverted pentagrams, magic, scary (but cute) creatures and objects. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3304452318 How hard is it: Easy to moderate for this type of game. It gets challenging about halfway through, you’ll have to rely on trial and error to find an arrangement that works. How long is it: 100 levels, 2-5 hours, and you have 3 level skips. Level design: Not bad, but not that good either. I personally don’t like the trial and error nature of the bigger levels. Quality: OK, but not great. A good level select. Mouse only controls. A few settings. No cloud saving, plenty of achievements, including bad ones, and many of them don’t unlock properly. Small, fast and responsive. Worth the price: Wait for a discount. Most positive aspect for me: Well done theming. Most negative aspect for me: Personally not a big fan of this genre. What would make it better: Keyboard and controller support. Cloud saving. Multiple save profiles. Hints. It doesn’t fit properly on the Steam Deck, make sure it works at 1280x800. Make your brain work for 100 levels of "organising everything in the grid" fun! Join me for a first look at the first 25 levels: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1iHn84UeNs I absolutely loved playing through this game. The hand-crafted levels and descriptions genuinely show the love put into this game. It's a cosy & fun witch-themed puzzle that slowly gets a tad harder occasionally with new ingredients/shapes. The description of the white cat vs. the black cat, as did some others, gave me a good laugh. When I came across the drooling snail, I was fully deceased. This is just awesome. Some achievements did not unlock properly for me, but I'm sure the team will look into it shortly and fix that. I wish I could say why, perhaps because I was alt-tabbing out for chatting and changing the podcast I was listening to once it was done. Who knows? I'll return at some point to try again; it gives me an excellent excuse to play through it again. And for those still in doubt, there's always the demo you can try~ I can't wait to see what they brew up next—pun very much intended! I did a second playthrough and made a guide while at it. I highly encourage you to figure out as much as you can on your own, but here's a link for those who would like a little help: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3300614356
As non biased person, this game is amazing, it's cozy, charming and enchanting you won't be able to stop playing!
Fun game with a great aesthetic! Simple mechanic, but still fun to play. Super satisfying seeing all the pieces drop into place, really enjoying it so far 👍
There's currently a demo, so playing that will give a faster impression of whether this is your sort of fun than anything I say. This is a witchy-aesthetic jigsaw-puzzle game using Tetris-like shapes, and since there's no time limit it works as relaxing fun for me. There's some level of challenge to figuring things out, too.
It makes my brain ripple in a good way.
Loved this game from the demo to the end (even though I am still stuck lvl 72) ! Play at you own risk, there is a high chance you'll become addicted to it !!
I'm about a third of the way through Tidy Cauldron and I'm really enjoying it. It's one of those games where I'll say "Just one more puzzle.", and then an hour has gone by in what feels like seconds. Thank you for making this game. ❤️
cute puzzle game. the little level completion noises gave me great joy, so did spam clicking the ingredients. i love sparkles achievements bugged out for me the first time, but its nothing a quick replay can fix. as with all cute puzzle games, there's always one piece i hate. screw that magic wand in particular, it was always hard figuring out where to lodge that thing i hope it enjoys bein cooked in that cauldron dumb twig i hate u
