Very fun to go fast
Great visuals and gameplay! Tests your abilities and patience (in the absolute best way possible - I got hours of fun out of this game).
A fun speedrunning game. Quick play through, but most of the time is in the 100% on achievments
Fun simple game that's fun to stumble through levels learning the basics and you can see there's a massive skill cap for improvement. If you like 2d platformers with unique movement mechanics definitely worth the price.
good
this game suCKS!!
If you're into injesting pure speed but you don't want to get in trouble for consuming drugs then this game is for you. Super fun to go fast and compete with your own time and others, def worth the price if you know you like this type of game.
"Okay, here we go. Focus. Speed. I am speed. One winner, forty-two losers, I eat losers for breakfast." -me af while playing through a second time and maybe Lightning McQueen
Very good. Movement is tight and precise, and more importantly, intuitive. Everything behaves and interacts exactly as you'd expect. The grappling hook and glider are good examples. In addition, all the levels allow for some VERY smooth and fast gameplay. Each world has it's own gimmick and ability, and they are all iterated and expanded on amazingly. I think the balls in the final world were a bit weird and not used enough, but aside from that, you're not allowed to mix and match abilities and worlds. Bummer, as seeing how things like water and the glider would've worked together would've been awesome. Aside from mechanics, Thunder Jumper looks really nice. There is usually high contrast between you and you're environment. And on top of that, the backgrounds and tiles you fly past are pretty. I think only complaint here is that the cursor can sometimes blend with the sand of the beach levels. That and (also in the beach levels) the lightning kills you? This was pretty confusing, as you're character is lightning themed, and it doesn't contrast with you're character or walkable sand tiles, making it harder to avoid. Could be fixed by turning it into little spots of pollution, to fit the theming. Aside from that, I have some minor issues. Firstly, the music tracks feel far to short, and don't feel appropriate with the fast nature of Thunder Jumper. Not a huge issue as I usually have my own music on when playing games anyways, but still notable. Secondly, the story felt unnecessary, especially with the lack of a climactic ending. I was read for a final boss fight, and though the last level was one of my favorites, it didn't feel like it was meant as an ending level, but an extra hard one. To summarize: game good, need some minor improvements. If you want to 100% the game, I don't doubt you could do it in 8 hours or less. Casual play is also fun, but won't get you nearly as much content. Good for the pricetag, and worth the time you put into it!
I'm gonna have to be the one to break the 100% positive review rate here. This game is not bad, but in its state, I can't reccomend it. This game could really use some love in many areas, and while the concept is great, there are too many flaws to enjoy the experience. First, the difficulty. If you want a casual player to attempt to speedrun your game (wich is very possible, for example bloodtheif did it well), the difficulty has to be moderate. However, the later worlds are way too difficult for a casual to try and speedrun it. Some of the later levels took me 10+ minutes to even clear. The first world is by far the best in every aspect imo because it is simple to clear, but speedrunning the levels is still challenging as you can always improve. The later levels require far more precise control an mastery to speedrun, so they are less fun to speedrun. Now for smaller nitpicks I had that made my experience worse. the purple world's gun ability is very inconsistent in its reload time. The electric grapple mechanic is very inconsistent and hard to learn, wich could be fixed by making grapple points small, set points that you grapple to if you aim the grapple in its general direction. Big ask, but I'm not expecting much since this game has been out for a while and is still in this state. Music is way too repetitive, wich is whatever you can just turn it off and put your own music. The beach world's ability feels like it was added at the last minute. It's fun, but the beach levels do not seem to be designed with it in mind. I could probably go on, but it would be pointless. Last complaint? Gun doesn't inflict 8 seconds of bleed.
