Thank you, Jonathan.
The Witness has charming visuals and most of the puzzles are well designed, IF the player knows all the puzzle mechanics already. That's where the caveats begin. If you play without sound or are deaf, you cannot understand some puzzles. I found the (sometimes hidden) audio logs to be disappointingly unrelated to the game. There are timed sections. There are sections which make you repeat a puzzle you've already done correctly each time you fail a new puzzle. There is a section which includes both of these at once. The developer decided to switch from making the puzzles "difficult to figure out" to "painful and/or physically sickening to look at" as a difficulty spike near the end of the game. If the map was accessible all of the time, instead of occasionally and there was a warning not to spend time trying to solve puzzles unless you've seen introductory puzzles for the related mechanics, that would have been enough to make this a positive review. Spreading the introductions to mechanics around the map without pushing the player to find and learn them before doing puzzles was an awful choice.
The reveal at the ending was awe inspiring.
Elegant and personally lots of fun

4.7★ You are The Witness in this amazing puzzle game. Play it. Now.
The base game itself is great, has a pretty art direction, a solid leveldesign and original puzzles that get deeper and deeper as u discover them. But what makes the witness really different is the moment u realise that when u finish the game, u aren't even halfway done. Fantastic game
Guy who has only played The Looker, playing this game: Getting a lot of "The Looker" vibes from this...
