Yeah I said there was no way I'd ever buy this book if it came out. But i Couldnt resist. My anger was so strong with the first book (and playing it through again to get a save point to play this one one just fed it all over again,) I just couldnt leave sleeping dogs lie. I bought it to hate it, to hate the thing that stole my PCs soul and killed him. I waited with baited breathe for the beginning to tell me, sorry your dead, go play the first book again and choose diferently this time.... But that didnt happen. The author respected my choice, and then continued the story line with all that anger and frustration right there for me to express to my hearts content. And grudgingly, slowly, it worked! It was believable and I was willing to meet my soul stone half way. He's sorry for trying to kill me and endangering my friends by holding me captive and unable to help them, and Im sorry for not trusting him in the first place. Do I know where this relationship between my PC and this Voice in his Head is going? no Not really. But atleast I am able to take a step back, and give it a chance. And the gods know my poor PC needs a friend desperately. He wasnt able to really trust any of the people he got stuck traveling with. Not their fault really, he just hates being a 3rd wheel. He didnt want pity or sympathy, and he wasnt interested in crashing in on anyone else's relationships. Nor was he willing to be bullied or "owned" by some creeper tormenting him with nightmares. Oh and he totally isnt into some kidnapper either, honestly the people that throw themself at my PC really really worry him about how messed up everyone in the world seems to be, and darken his hopes of ever finding someone one thats honestly just interested in him, for who he is. Not because he has pretty eyes, or a Soul Stone to throw into the bargain. All that said, Yes I do recommend this book.
Like the first book, I would've refunded this one if I hadn't missed the 14 day refund window. I'm honestly just pushing through the series because I already paid for it, not because I'm enjoying it. The writing hasn't improved much (though credit where it's due: the grating, constant repetitions of "thank you very much!" from the first book are mercifully gone), and the friendships with companions feel shallow and unearned. We're repeatedly told the characters are like family, but it's just presented as given without really building to it. The companions are generically good people who care about each other because the script says so, not because of any real chemistry, meaningful conflict, or genuine development. This "tell don't show" problem permeates everything, especially the plot. The writing insists the journey is hard and dangerous, that the characters have grown through hardship, but they never actually work for anything. Whenever there's a problem, someone conveniently shows up to solve it, and the party just kind of floats from one moment to the next without ever earning their wins. I'm committed to finishing the series out of sunk-cost stubbornness, but I can't recommend it.
10/10 Would call Manerkol adorable again. Also, Sconce Lives Matter.
The story is amazing and touching. One of the best Hosted Games I have ever play. I have been playing 4th time and i still can't get enough of it. Book 3 please!!!!
Been a complete roller coaster ride and there's still more to come. ♥♥♥♥, I have been waiting for this sequel and there was no disappointment here! TAT Not just because of the sweetness in the poly of Straasa and Morkai, but also the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ relief I got from achieving a good ending.
Saving Elly/Eledwen!
Now I'm just trembling with glee and thinking of doing another run (and hold torches and pitchforks for TSSW3 - WOO). P.S: It's really heartwarming to know there's even a DLC that digs deeper into the lore - ♥♥♥♥ YEAH!
This was 100% written by AI. Incredibly disappointing because I actually did enjoy the first game. In this one, all the ROs personalities are completely gone and they all share the same basic one, as if they were a hivemind. It's horrible writing. And for christssake how many times are you going to write "pregnant silence"???/
While the first game in the series had some issues, "The Soul Stone War 2" felt even more devoid of meaningful choices. Or rather, devoid of the options I would’ve liked. One of my chosen love interests is captured, and yet, I’m forced to spend what must be weeks doing other things than trying to save her? While my second love interest keeps secrets from me, and I can’t so much as confront or talk to her about it? Since all I wanted to do was go after my captured love interest, everything else felt like sidetracking and wasting time. But once you finally do what should have been attempted at the start, the game ends abruptly, paving the way for the third installment. In the end, I found the romance in the first game to be superior since very little was added to it in this one, and there were too many lies, making me want to break it off with the one keeping them. Also, I’d have liked the romance to have gotten a little less chaste this far into the story, but perhaps that perceived shortcoming is only the case with the two I picked. Since I am not interested in men, I wouldn’t know if they were of the same quality or maturity, but I assume so. For all I know, most people may prefer that it never goes past kissing, and if so, fair enough. Now, even though my review sounded rather negative, the reason I cared so much about the characters was thanks to the quality of the writing, and as such, I can’t help but recommend the game, even if I think it’s too linear at times. (5/10)
Although I didn't give the first work high praise, I have to admit that I still love stories and characters very much! ! Really!( Morkai!! Just be my Da...:x
