TSE was a gem that was buried before it's time, and TSE:R is a labor of love set to put it back out in the hands of players so the community can grow again. (And also finally fix some of the long standing bugs and tap down/up some of the best and worst performing strategies.) Once I'm done badgering all my friends to finally give this a try, I don't think I'll be able to put it back down again. God this community is sweet.
Platform brawler with action movie theming. Revamp of an older game. Guns are balanced by needing to keep the mouse ON your target, as opposed to putting your gun in the target's direction. Melee weapons can block projectiles and be thrown, (any weapon can be thrown actually, including objects in stages) there's diving, sliding, flipping, dive rolling, walljumping, and probably other things i haven't discovered. it's fun. you make a loadout by choosing two weapons, and a character (characters have different abilities) and go fight. you can change the hat, shirt, and pants of your character as well by unlocking them. also all the weapons have skins so you can have different looking and sounding guns while they still remain balanced the only monetisation is just the support pack, which is refreshing. there is no PvE mode. You can only fight other players. now for my thoughts. this game is a lot of fun for me. Its the kind of game i would have wanted to make myself. i love being able to make a look for a character, change how my guns look and then tackle Arnold Schwarzenegger down an elevator shaft, and killing him when we slam into the floor at the bottom. i love stopping a rocket by intercepting it with a thrown barstool, and then closing distance with the person who shot it as they run away. i love when i know i can't take someone in a straight fight, and i have to adapt and resort to other tricky tactics that this game gives me the ability to do i love the feeling of getting better with every fight. i also think that there should be modes where you fight against computers, or hoards of enemies. a pipe dream would be a mode that has enemies pushing you into learning how to fight better. there should be better accommodations for new players there should be a training mode where you can use the loadouts you made i could make more critiques, but it wouldn't be much more, and it would also be nit-picky. with all this said, i love this game. its one of those tiny little gems with a dedicated fan base. im just glad i can be one of the few people that appreciate it. i hope it grows. (also? it's FREE.)

It's like the old game, but free! Edit: And buggier... but hey it's a labour of love by the fans and it's being actively worked on.

This game is so much fun with friends, its deeper then you first think in terms of movement and game mechanics, simple at the core to understand but requires some skill to git guud. You get into these funny mind game situations which can often be hilarious. I have over 80 hours in the original one, we just need more of us. Thanks to the Devs to release this once again.
Was nice being able to play it again 10 years after original got shutdown
The fun is back, this time completely free ! The game is brought back to life by some devs from the old community and this version is officially approved by Paradox. The balance of weapons is something subjective and by no means definitive. I am confident that if a majority of the community requests it, Giusepelll will adjust the balance in the near future. I have already observed great responsiveness on the Discord. It's a real pleasure to rediscover these iconic characters, music, lines, and accents so stereotypical of action movies from the '90s. Finally, we can engage in some good old-fashioned face-offs, splattering blood with joy and good spirits. At the risk of repeating myself, the game is completely free and just as fun as it was back then, so why not give it a try ?
I wouldn't want to sound clownish so as a world top 2 TSE player and an overexperienced veteran (played since release), I'll give a positive review of the reloaded version. There are a lot of reasons for that, and I really recommend playing this game if you're looking for something where you can show off your elite gaming skills. I will start with the main reason I will stick to playing TSE Reloaded version - the balance changes. They're great! Balance updates after all these years. The main developer decided to balance the game. Players who were maining a Rifle+Shotgun combo or Shotgun+Shotgun for thousands of hours, learning special movements and timings to put these high-risk, high-reward "glass cannons" into use, need to learn to adapt! It's great! In addition to that, he increased the damage of Thrown weapons (shurikens, cards, etc.), which were already considered a lot of fun to use, and now they're even more viable! There are also other balance changes which I and some other very high skilled players really agree are great. SMG damage changes which make sense, as it is perfectly balanced in my opinion, and Fists' damage increase, which is completely clever as they could already deal a lot of damage due to blatant stunlock if you're elite enough to get into melee range without a weapon! You are the weapon! Weapons that really require a complete rebalance such as RPG, Pistol, and Machinegun remain untouched, which is great because that means weapons that feel good continue to feel good! The Showdown Effect game, which was originally stated as "Skill-Based" by the original developers, is turning into "Skill-Based but now accessible to everyone as long as you can adapt" because the skill ceiling is different thanks to great balance changes by the development team. The second reason why I really like playing TSE is the community, including the developer/publisher. I don't have friends that are overly negative and/or get banned, so we don't have to worry when the moderators rightly accuse troublemakers of things that should get blacklisted on every possible TSE-related platform. Direct Quote: ----------------------------- (name redacted for privacy): Thanks for the games ✌️✌️ ------------------------------------------ But the main reason we're all really jealous of how great this game is. Because we don't get banned for pointless negativity, we are not just like the rest of them, we are stronger, we are smarter, we are better. Some months later - current "developer"/publisher GiuseppeIII contacted us and and announced the steam release. As you might guess, he kept his word! However, he continues to listen to people to take on feedback, giving them TSE Reloaded in return. Thanks GiuseppIII! The fourth reason why I recommend playing TSE Reloaded is its technical aspect. You might ask, why don't I question GIII Holdings LLC's development skills? Well, simply because he brought TSE Reloaded to the masses. Hooray! A game launcher in 2024? Whatever! It's a fan-made re-release, so that makes total sense. And this thing works as intended... no crashing! It doesn't even bug out periodically. It just works. Client stability and performance are just like vanilla. You simply play. I didn't encounter any cheating either! The reason why most problems happen is that a few people are really negative, but it's okay because the moderators are on the ball and have banned them. So, with a 98.6% chance, this is a project with a great future! I don't know if the game still needs updates, but whatever, it's been out for years and can be considered a finished product. Thanks devs! With that being said, yet again, I highly recommend playing TSE:R. It became at least as good, or WAY BETTER than the original game!
No players
I'm just glad to see it again. Nostalgia fills me. We used to do all kinds of wacky rules like one hit infinite ammo 1 weapon, or no bandage no weapons only pickups.... Can't not recommend it. Do wish I couldve transferred what I've already unlocked. Need some sort of streamer to pick this up to revitalise it a little. It's skill based, fun, and it could be so much
