The Royal Game of Ur is an ancient racing game where players try to get all of their tokens across the board first. 3000 years ago this was one of the most popular board games in the world. Play it yourself to find out why!

Good Cheap port of a classic game
Fun little game, allows you to feel like Ea Nasir
A fun version of a game even more ancient and more historically significant than Doom, Quake, and Half-Life. There's a certain charm to playing a board game from ancient Mesopotamia in a visual style suited to modern puzzle games, and this one plays well. With some nice new visuals available for the playing pieces by accumulating wins against the AI. As for the game itself, it has an interesting layer of strategy for a dice-rolling game from early civilization. To some extent, you make your own luck, by positioning pieces to take advantage of extra roll squares for an extended turn without giving the opponent a chance to react. Controlling the starting area of the board, by holding positions where nearly any result of the dice will allow you to remove an opponent's piece from the board. Showing that the classics are classics for a reason.

Game has no FPS limited therefor can and WILL cause GPUs to overheat and destroy themselves. Good concept, not a good dev.
Nice implementation of an ancient boardgame, with two variants included. There's a couple of issues, like when playing multiplayer if the blue player wins the screen says "AI Wins!", but for 2 quid I ain't complaining. It supports Remote Play Together as well which means I've been able to play with my friend through the quarantine. Also runs in Linux through steamplay, so that's wonderful. Would recommend if you're into ancient sumerian boardgames. Or just boardgames in general.
One of the oldest board games in history digitalised. You can play against the AI or locally with a friend. The only thing that this game is missing is online multiplayer.
Because Ur.
It definitely is fun and I love it! Just like the ancient Egyptian Senet, the Sumerian (?) Royal Game of Ur is a fantastic game. It's the very core of all games. In reality no one knows which known game is the oldest in the world, but surely this is a serious adept for the title. It's one of the oldest games from the dawn of humankind. We do not know where they came from and they are similar yet different. I would be interested to know how much of the rules are fantasy of archaeologists or other people and how much we know for sure this is the way the ancients played it. In any way, someone said they don't make such games anymore. Funny, but true in the nutshell! Why is it that these original ancient games are so much fun? No one knows. With so little you have so much. All modern games should learn from the ancient games, and I am very, very serious about it. If someone would be willing to pay for me, I would be willing to analyse it and give lecture. All modern game developers should and can take lessons from this, if understood. So about this game itself: Visually, it could be so much better, the creator didn't really bother to make any real graphics. It's pity. It is acceptable though. Sound and music are acceptable as well. Thankfully there's nothing too annoying, which is not automatic as there are so many unplayable games because someone screwed the making. The creators of these ancient board games seem to be decent and aware they have no competition and the players are grateful for what they bring. I surely am. Keep up the good work and please revive more of the ancient games. The explanation of the rules: Is not good. If I didn't overlook something, the rules are really not explained well. But I immediately got the point of this game during my first match and it was fun to get it and win it right away. Technically the basics works perfect. Thanks! AI: Artifical intelligence is an important aspect of such game. I would say, in this one it is acceptable and it doesn't feel bad to win. It would be worse if you were losing all the time. However, speaking seriously, so far I never lost. I tried easy and learned what is it to have intentionally stupid AI. I tried medium and the poor AI stood no chance. I killed all its stones out of the board and reached goal with all mine. So funny, so uneven. It was still intentionally stupid or drunk, the settings are obviously to overlook half of the chances. Since then I play the highest difficulty and highest speed. I also forgot to mention I play the "advanced" track from start, I see no point to make it even easier with "basic" track. But I see problem the game is incapable to win over me. It really tried, it really tried hard, I saw that - and to no honor of the creator, it tried through adapting the luck ratio a bit against me. It did alter it only slightly so it really felt realistic - it does happen to have such bad luck in reality, but it was obvious it was in attempt to beat me. It tried very hard about twice out of the cca 8 times I played so far. But it never won. Which means the AI is not sufficient. The game is very easy so I think the AI should be improved and is possible to improve without using too sofisticated software. But for the fun, it's good. If the creator wants to test better AI on me, I am available for the testing. I guess there's nothing more needed to say. I recommend. And I make call for competitors to create a visually more attractive versions and also muliplayer. These games deserve it.
Perfect if you wanna master the oldest game known to archaeologists!
