amazing game, highly recommend!

Menudo vicio. Un juego de puro texto y puro ingenio. Es super sencillo en cuanto a mecánicas pero rico y extenso en el lore. Alta recomendación para todos los fans de los juegos detectivescos que aman conectar información, discernir de qué hilo se puede tirar y tomar buenos apuntes. Me ha tenido picada durante días y he pasado mucho tiempo pensando en la familia Roottree, incluso con el juego apagado. Y, encima, cuando lo terminas hay un caso extra que expande aún más el árbol genealógico. Ahí sí que debes prepararte bien para recibir toneladas de información! PD. Es gratificante cuando al final acabas escribiendo "Roottree" automáticamente sin olvidar ninguna letra

This game can be divided into two parts: the main game and the DLC Roottreemania. The first part is quite good and, at least for me, it was difficult to play, but, at the same time, I didn't need any hint to complete it. Roottreemania is, unfortunately, another story. The game provides you with less physical evidence than in the first part: this means you have to rely much more on the internet search engine and on specific keywords, which, in a wall of text, are not always easy to find. Either you have lots of hours and patience to spend on this game, or you will probably find yourself frustrated, wondering what to do next. In the end, I felt stuck a few times, and had to rely on a few hints to complete the game. In addition, some plot points are debatable: [spoiler][list] [*] DNA testing was done with hair samples which were not properly certified i.e. the game states that a sample comes from a specific person because someone says so. Given the high stakes, a procedure this sloppy would never be acceptable in real life. [*]the affair between Elias and Bess is far fetched: there isn't any record of these two people being in the same place at the same time, and Bess herself is never described working as a secretary anywhere as far as I know. [*]timelines of Guy Hudson's affairs are not always clear cut: it is said that he had intercourse with his lovers during parties, however this doesn't necessarily mean that he didn't have sex in other situations, and, given the unavailability of DNA testing in his times, paying a woman to hide an extramarital affair cannot be seen as proof that she was pregnant with his child instead of someone else's. [*]the Lang Xinyu storyline puzzles me: it is stated that she tried to help her younger sister conceive a child using IVF... I thought the sister never mentioned it because she was ashamed of her (or her husband's) sterility, but it turns out her son Mark was conceived naturally. Even if IVF was a cover for an undesired pregnancy, it didn't make sense for Xinyu to say that she was helping her sister. [/list] [/spoiler]

such a fun game!!! i've played through twice now and really loved every bit of this. it was a gigantic puzzle made up of a whole bunch of tricky smaller puzzles. great storytelling. the hint system is great too, just the right amount of nudging in the right direction for me to be like OH YEAH OF COURSE I SHOULD DO whatever. But yeah! awesome game, 100% recommend.

I loved the concept of being a PI and having to search through documents and narratives to build a family tree and put the connections together. NGL, I figured out the overarching mystery about halfway through filling in the tree, but that didn't take any enjoyment away from unravelling the last threads.
