The Roottrees are Dead

An excellent investigation and mystery game about putting together a family tree from late 90s websites, magazines and library books. If you like that early internet detective vibe this is for you.

I like such "uncovering mystery" games, but most that I played have a lot of plot holes and a story that doesn't add up. (especially when you play for the second time and already know what happened). This is not the case with The Roottrees. This is a very satisfying game, by paying close attention to what you read you can figure out the story pretty quickly. And if not, the rubber duck hints are wonderful, they help just a bit but don't ruin the fun. [spoiler] i also like the fact that it didn't turn out, that the plane crash was actually not an accident. Because that would be quite predictable[/spoiler]

This is such a fun mystery. I especially had a blast figuring out the Roottreemania part. The last thing I put together litteraly had me shouating "Woah! That's so cool!" at my computer. I had a had some dificulty searching for clues at times because my spelling is pretty poor and I have a hard time seeing what I've spelled wrong, but that really just meant I should have copied what I wanted to search for instead of typing it.

推荐本体不看提示自己推理，可以挖出来每个人的脾气性格推理起来很有意思。一口气推完真是酣畅淋漓的吃瓜。狂热全是这种出轨瓜挺无聊的，就推个名字时间，剧情就那样吧，该看提示就看吧。

I'm a big puzzle/mystery game fan and am pretty disappointed in this one. It's essentially just look through a bunch of evidence and make the right searches til you piece a family tree together. There's not really any real critical thinking or problem solving to it and the story isn't very compelling either (which is significant because you spend most of the time reading). Some of it is even just guess work/process of elimination which I find boring and lazy. Imo, it's not an intellectual stimulating game and didn't scratch the itch for solving mysteries that I was expecting. If you like doing tasks, making connections from obvious clues, trying to search the right things, and putting basic puzzle pieces together, then you might like it! If you like actually exercising logic, problem solving, and working through true challenges, don't waste your time/money. Go buy Blue Prince, Outer Wilds, an LoZ game, or something else instead.
