The Picture in The House

Mesmo com as criticas do jogo, eu tentei...eu juro que tentei. Baixei, esperei, joguei... E fico feliz de não ter pago, dele estar gratuito... se não me arrependeria mesmo que estivesse 2 reais. Um jogo escuro não o torna mais assustador, no nível deste jogo o torna irritante. Mas tudo bem... coloquei o brilho no máximo, do jogo e do monitor... agora estava mais claro do que o posto de gasolina próximo de casa, ai deu pra jogar. Os puzzles não são de todo ruins... assim como a historia. Mas mal sabia eu que na parte final do jogo, onde monta a escada o jogo travaria!!! E olha só que emocionante.. não tem save e o jogo já te avisa isso no inicio!! Jogar tudo novamente para ver o final seria demais pra mim... desisti e vi o final no youtube. E nao, nao é meu pc.... ( i7, 32gb memoria, ssd, RTX 3060). Isso é tudo pessoal... ate a próxima.

A lil clunky but not bad for a short indie game to explore around a spooky house and do a couple puzzles. Can't beat the free price too! Works great on a controller if you remap 2 buttons in the controller configurator. Twice I got kind of stuck, had no idea what to do next and was just wandering around for 10 mins, turns out the cutscene that continues the game isn't triggered unless you walk across a certain spot. Fixed by watching a playthrough vid up to the point I was stuck at to find where to walk to make it go.

Nice idea but unfortunately too dark and absolutely far too slow movement to be enjoyable for playing. Luckily in that aspec it's quite short, especially since you cannot save progress but must complete it in one go, and I had quite some challenge understanding the lever mechanism, so having to play through all of it several times to figure out that part was slighly frustrating.

A környezet ábrázolása még hangulatos is, de az öregemberé már annyira gyenge, hogy kizökkent. A rejtvények tetszettek, a szöveg és a jelenetek is hatásosak. Többször elakadtam a nehézkes mozgás és irányítás miatt, meg amiért a sötétben nem találtam a lámpást.

The Picture in The House is a flawed, but ultimately okay horror, puzzle game and interesting retelling of lovecraft's original story. Now this is the part where I talk about the story, but if you've read the original Lovecraft story then you pretty much get the gist of it, so I'll just say this is a story about a man trying to seek shelter from the rain and finding a house. Okay the likes, the story is pretty good it's a faithful adaptation of the original story while improving it in some aspects, [spoiler] like getting to see all the corpses that the old man was eating. [/spoiler] The little hand drawn cutscenes were really good and honestly I would have probably liked a few more of them or maybe the whole game done in that hand drawn style. The graphics were okay pretty simple, you've probably seen a lot of other indie games with these kinds of graphics but it did have a nice use of color and scenery. The levels were okay had some nice detail that made the house feel lived in and creepy like original Lovecraft story. The atmosphere was nice and spooky captured the feel of the Lovecraft pretty well. The music was okay, the voice acting was also okay, it was serviceable.The gameplay was okay, you just walk around and do some puzzles nothing overly complex, although some of the puzzles did kind of suck but that's for dislikes. The little notes you could pick up were good, I especially love that fairy tale in the secret room I found it quite adorable. The game is also free which was good. Now is the game scary when you first play it, it can be a little bit scary but playing it for a second time it's not scary. Okay the dislikes, the game could be too dark what I mean by that is it can literally be too dark to see, it was kind of hard to see in certain places, especially in that last level I would like to been able to pick up a candle or lantern and just be able to look around. Some of the puzzles were bit overly complex for such a short game like this cipher puzzle and that switch puzzle. With that said The Picture in The House is a flawed, but ultimately okay horror, puzzle game and interesting retelling of lovecraft's original story, with a pretty good story, good notes and really good hand drawn cutscenes. So do I recommend this game, well if you have time and want to play a Lovecraft game that's for free you can't really go wrong with this game, but just to tall you there is some racist language in this, but it's more to keep in the original retelling of the story and not to offend anyone. But anyway I will say if the game did cost money I probably would have given this a thumbs down.
