I like the take of this game on the twin-stick shooter genre by marrying it to base-building and resource gathering, and it was the primary reason I bought it at EA (which might not be for everyone), and the primary reason I'm sticking with the game. It's a bit rough around the edges as of now, but the seeds of good gameplay are there. The resourcing forces you to explore and prioritize. The gunplay is crunchy (though targetting is a bit awkward given the perspective). I'm not a super big fan of survival mechanisms, but in this very specific scenario, they drive you out to search, and help you plan out your builds, so it's actually quite effective here. I believe the game is a good mashup of those genres, and it can explore the content and drop it when it's ready. The hardest part of the game in its current state in EA is getting enough materials to become self-sustainable. I'm currently lost after that phase, as there's not much left to do, so I'm hoping for more content and more endgame in future builds.
NOT RECOMMENDED. Basically no user guides, no newbie instructions, nothing. Still can't figure out what should take priority after death and death again over an hour experience, since you would have only very few resource rocks to acquire within first 20 minutes or so - and that's long enough to kill you before anything can really develope. Quite painful. Very rare water sources, ridiculous dehydration speed, lack of means to generate water. Yepp, you do the math.
The video looks cool in the store, you just wont get chance to get there :) Lets just say: its TOO EARLY ACCESS, tried to survive 5 times but failed, 3 times because i bugged in to the base just because walking by, and cant move and cant make any interaction, one time because out of ammo and the chest drop just fell down of the cliff, one time because i just wanted to build my third building and there ALREADY wasn't any resources, so i needed to go further, but the gas come and died. 1: lack of resources 2: no guide 3: many bug 4: only hardcore mode with perma death which its impossible to play in this state. 5: nice graphics 6: nice ideas. i wont start a refund even i played less than a hour, as my support to the solo developer. looking forward to try it again around a month later.
I really enjoyed the game and didn't experience any noticeable bugs . The game was a little confusing as first due to no tutorial but it become quite self explanatory pretty quickly. Combat felt great and the build mechanics were good enough. The upgrades were mostly interesting and added to the games playability. I liked the levelling system and the in-menu skill point system too begun to make the game feel a lot easier. I wonder if people randomly dying were dying of hunger or something and didn't realise?! Overall, I've played many early access games with way less content and replayability and I thought this game was just a really great mash-up of some very popular genres and played well. Maybe multiplayer or COOP would improve it further. I'm going to have to recommend this one as the game was just enjoyable and fun!
Review at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0VDU0XUEG_g&t=21s I wish there was a neutral setting for recommending this game. This is a good game that needs some tweaks I believe. The biggest part is trying to figure out what to do as there is no tutorial or explanation. I do like the concept of perma death and learning from your mistakes to do even better next game.
Not much flash and a tough game, all good things. I like it. Moving over terrain hopefully will get better also adding a jump would be awesome! I know its very early so I am looking forward to see what is too come.
'Earth Defender' is a captivating survival game that plunges you into a post-apocalyptic world. With striking graphics and heart-pounding gameplay, you're tasked to protect your base from hordes of mutated enemies. It's the perfect blend of strategic base-building and dynamic combat that keeps every encounter unique and thrilling. If you're after an immersive, action-packed gaming experience, look no further - 'Earth Defender' is a must-play.
I've played around 2 hours of Earth Defender and i'm really enjoying what I've seen so far. It can be a little confusing initially as you're not really given anything in the way of a tutorial, but after a few runs it starts to click and the blend of twin stick shooter and survival gameplay feels like a fresh and genuinely unique take. As an Early Access game, Earth Defender feels alot more complete than alot of other Early Access games, and im excited to see what additional features are added into the game as development progresses. I'd like to see more guns and powerups, maybe even different playable protagonists that each have different perks. But in all a very promising title that ill be keeping my eye on.
I like the graphics but the movement is idiotic. Keep dying because cant control movement. Only uses Qwerty keys so very imprecise in attacking enemies. Please develop mouse enabled movement to attack target by clicking on target or something other than how it is now.
