The Palace on the Hill Prologue

Son muchos los juegos que hay en el mercado con mecánicas de farming, pero Palace on The Hill tiene un encanto diferente. Me jugué al prólogo sin ninguna expectativa y aunque no es el mejor de su género, realmente creo que merece la pena jugar al juego completo. Es verdad que no está traducido al español y eso puede echar para atrás a muchas personas, pero el diálogo es sencillo y fácil de entender por si alguien se atreve.

Like Stardew Valley but India. This game is actually much prettier and the vibe is just super chill. Im absolutely loving it. Super good for distressing and activating chill mode. This game is beautiful!

This first taste of The Palace on the Hill has been a relaxing 1.5 hour of gameplay. As an European, I've found the Indian setting refreshing, and I'm excited to see more diversity in games in this respect. The hand-drawn artistic style, although a little rudimentary at times, is beautiful. The complete game might be a good choice for fans of the cozy genre, but also for players looking for a culturally-enriching experience. I am both, so I look forward to buying it in the future (once I have played other games of my backlog first!).

Never thouight that it will be my cap of tea, but I liked the demo. Will check full game.

"The Palace on the Hill Prologue" is is not a game. It's an advertisement for a product called "The Palace On The Hill". The Palace On The Hill is a rather poorly made hand illustrated ripoff of Stardew Valley but with a 20th century rural Indian theme, which I guess might appeal to anyone who lived in rural India last century, but not so much for the other 130,000,000 gamers here on Steam. And it's not even as deep or fleshed out as Stardew Valley... although the graphics are obviously better because they're not pixelcrap, it's not exactly award winning stuff. At best they're at least a little charming in a rustic kind of way, but we also have to remember this is the 3D era of gaming. The 2D era ended in the mid 1990s. I guess that makes the game anachronistic. But this isn't completely relevant because this is not The Palace On The Hill, it's just an advertisment for it, so it's not correct to try to review that completely distinct product. We must instead review this for what it is... an advertisement. If you enjoy advertisements, you can consume them for free on the web or on Youtube without needing to add them to your game library, download them, and then launch the advertising. It's impossible in a general sense to recommend people should do that over playing real, full games on Steam, and that applies here with "The Palace on the Hill Prologue" too. The purpose of this advertisement is to get you to shell out a whopping $20 USD on buying The Palace On The Hill, and I don't recommend you do that either. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. As an advertisement, this is only free in the same way that adverts on Youtube and banner ads in your browser are. This is a game demo that's been dumped on Steam to advertise another Steam store page in the hopes of raking in some cash. Just because advertisements are free, doesn't mean they're worth your time. It's important to understand there's a formal process to create a demo/page for a game which hasn't been followed here: https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/store/application/demos While it might seem like an inocuous mistake, publishing demos and advertisements as if they are full games is misleading and in some ways harmful. This advertisement is taking up marketing space and visibility that would be better made available to a developer that's done the right thing and created a full game. Instead, that visibility is given over to a demo/advert that's been published incorrectly and is polluting the marketplace. It's unclear if this mistake was made through incompetence or a deliberate intent to mislead gamers. Often developers may choose to incorrectly publish demo/advertisements as separate games as a cheap way to bypass paying Valve for marketing presence on the Steam front page, which may seem clever to them, but it's harmful behaviour and it's not good for gamers. In terms of public reception, this failed. There's over 130 million unique gamers visiting Steam every month. SteamDB showed the game peaked at [b]only 13 concurrent players[/b]... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Advertisements and incorrectly published demos don't add +1 to your game collector count, they aren't full games. It's impossible for me to recommend this incorrectly published advertising spam to gamers, you deserve better than adverts.
