dont buy this game
Combat is absolute trash, but since this isn't a combat oriented game, I'll let it slide. If that's a dealbreaker for you, I recommend you don't buy it. Otherwise, you will find that the game rewards exploration, smart decisions, good preparation, teamwork and communication. I believe all of this is conducive to a fun gaming experience event though everybody would agree that some parts of the game need to be ironed out. Some issues may never be addressed because it's an Unreal Engine game. I'm going to give the devs the benefit of the doubt and leave a positive review. If I see good changes down the line, I'll even recommend it to friends.
A tentative yes. Most of the gameplay is very well designed, atmospheric and very on point but the lack of a meaningful progression or reward system does harm replayability a bit and may be am issue for some players. Then again Sea of Thieves was popular for some reason.
The Mound is an exceptional psychological horror game built around the successful execution several simple ideas. Its easy to pick up but still challenging. Had fun playing online and solo. Great value for the price makes this an easy recommend!
this game is honestly better than made out to be, the attention to detail on things is crazy. theres alot more that some people just arent seeing and putting time into the game just reveals how much is hidden under the surface, dont look at this as friendslop, its a narrative adventure that you can bring your friends on. highly recommend to horror fans
les jeux d'horreur c'est pas mon truc mais les mécaniques de jeu sont vraiment originales et très innovantes
Game good much fun had
Very good game. A bit of a rocky launch but the devs are working on it AND have done quality of life fixes
140+ Runs 8/10 Great Price As a hardcore gamer who has spent countless hours chasing the high of genuinely challenging, atmospheric design, finding a title that respects your intelligence is rare. The Mound isn't just a great game; it's a masterclass in modern game design. Thisis a fantastic game to challange you and you're friends. From a mechanical standpoint, the gameplay loop is ruthlessly tight. The combat demands absolute precision, rewarding mastery, timing, and deep spatial awareness rather than button-mashing or artificial stat-checking. Every enemy encounter feels like a high-stakes puzzle where a single misstep is punishing, yet victories feel intensely earned. The progression systems are masterfully balanced, offering genuine build-diversity that lets you tailor your playstyle down to the fraction of a frame. Aesthetically and narratively, it’s an absolute triumph. The world-building is delivered through environmental storytelling at its absolute finest—bleak, atmospheric, and dripping with lore that rewards the most observant players. Combined with a phenomenal, haunting soundscape and impeccable technical performance that keeps frame rates locked when the chaos peaks, every single element gels together seamlessly. If you are a veteran player looking for a title that refuses to hold your hand, challenges your reflexes, and immerses you in a meticulously crafted dark world, The Mound is an essential masterpiece. Do not sleep on this one.
The concept is really fun, atmosphere of the game captures the horror elements really well. Unfortunately, after doing about 10 or so runs with a friend the initial thrill and fear started turning into frustration at a couple bugs and issues we kept running into. For an entire run, my duo was barred from picking any items up and treated as if his inventory was constantly full. I constantly ran into issues with ammunition consumption particularly with crossbow bolts - whether I could retrieve used ones or not was incredibly inconsistent. We also agreed mutually that the game itself feels very clunky, the sprint input seems inconsistent and melee combat is unsatisfying - enemies react to attacks/heavy attacks in ways that feel unbefitting of the swing. I would still give the game a go in spite of its issues, I'm sure it will be better optimised overtime. Looking forward to future updates.
