Was immersed the entire way through this game.

The Invincible is an atompunk narrative adventure game. You play as Yasna, an astrophysicist deployed to the uncharted planet Regis III. What begins as a routine exploration mission quickly turns into a fight for survival and a deep, philosophical story about humanity, empathy, and the boundaries of life itself. Fact: The visual identity, atmospheric isolation, and slow-burn narrative style strongly echo The Alters - which makes total sense, given that both games share the same publisher, 11 bit studios. The Short Answer: Is It Worth Buying? If you grab it on sale and enjoy slow-paced narrative adventures, retro-futuristic mysteries, or games where you focus on absorbing dialogue rather than high-octane action - absolutely, it's worth it. Playtime 2/10 It took me a little over 5 hours to complete a full playthrough. Story 7/10 A scientist stranded on a hostile world uncovers mysterious evolutionary secrets while navigating life-or-death moral dilemmas. Music 4/10 Generally pleasant and unobtrusive, though it can get a bit grating during prolonged high-tension moments. Graphics 5/10 Polished retro-futuristic Unreal Engine presentation. Mechanics 3/10 Narrative choices are the core foundation here - almost every action or dialogue response directly influences how events unfold. Tool interaction mechanics feel somewhat bizarre; using one item requires one key, another item uses a completely different key, and a third item uses yet another, which gets genuinely annoying. The default dialogue selection UI is awkward and uncomfortable for keyboard-and-mouse controls (though it likely feels much smoother on a gamepad). Vehicle controls feel straight out of a game from the early 2000s - instead of driving, it feels like the rover is floating over the terrain, and it constantly gets stuck or simply can't squeeze through basic environmental gaps. Traversal animations are equally frustrating: watching the slow, unskippable ledge-climbing animation nearly drive you insane after seeing it 10 times in a short span. Furthermore, collision detection can be janky, with clear spots on the map where you can permanently fall through the textures and get softlocked. The interactive comic recap system is a fantastic stylistic touch for tracking your path, but the game deeply misses a full flowchart tree at the end to showcase all the alternative choices (similar to Detroit: Become Human). Personal Take I picked this up off the memory of that iconic teaser featuring the floating skeleton inside a space helmet. It turned out to be a very pleasant experience, and at a discount price, it’s a solid pick. The central dialogue topics - delving into human nature, consciousness, and the cold indifference of artificial or mechanical logic toward human life - are captivating to listen to. However, the movement and cutscene pacing feel painfully slow. I constantly caught myself wishing the overall traversal and animation speed could be bumped up by 1.5x or even 2x to keep the momentum going. Overall Score: 71/100
Really enjoyed this game because of it's impressive atmosphere and presentation. Has multiple endings and choices throughout the game that seem subtle can have a big impact in the end. Looking forward to doing another playthrough.
