The Indifferent Wonder of an Edible Place is a story about a building eater consuming a tower in a town condemned to be removed from history. It ponders the violence of erasure and the profound grief of surviving at the edge of despotism, when places of entangled heritage are willfully effaced.

This is a somber, intimate experience in which you are made to participate in the destruction of a surreal and beautiful edifice, made to bear witness to the ruminations of a person who has lost something irreplaceable. Death is not reserved just for the flesh, and neither is life reserved for those who speak; rather, it is made clear that a place can live and breathe the same as any man, and that to die is to be forgotten, destroyed, consumed, and lost, utterly without hope of remembrance. This is a tragic and beautiful and painful thing that you should experience. And let the guilt and horror and sadness of the deed wash over you, that you may know the indifferent wonder of an edible place.
Игра 'The Indifferent Wonder of an Edible Place' оставила крайне смешанные впечатления. 'The Indifferent Wonder of an Edible Place' – это скорее интерактивное произведение искусства, чем игра в традиционном понимании. Она подойдет тем, кто ценит необычные эксперименты и готов принять неопределенность в повествовании, но может разочаровать игроков, ищущих четкий сюжет и отточенный геймплей. Это опыт, который запоминается, но не всегда приятен.
Before I played The Indifferent Wonder of an Edible Place, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
One of the best experiences on Steam. It is short and beautiful. Please play it, a life where you have played it will always be better that one in which you have not.
The description of this game on the Steam page is not the result of the developers being pretentious. This game really is about "the violence of erasure and the profound grief of surviving at the edge of despotism". Yes, really. In The Indifferent Wonder of an Edible Place, you play as someone who is forced, likely out of poverty, to destroy a building by eating it, knowing that it held some significance to the people who lived in that town. Interspersed with your actions is a letter that your character writes to their brother, asking for forgiveness for doing so, since their family's town had been eaten by a similar group of people. Ultimately the question is implied of whether it is better to struggle on, if it means having to harm others. The game is short (under 15 minutes), and the gameplay is basic (consisting primarily of finding the correct block and eating it), but the writing is heavy and powerful. While you do not finish eating the whole tower in the game, you will likely not want to do so by the time the game ends. It is as long as it needs to be, and I can't help but feel like anybody who rated this negatively based on the gameplay paid no attention whatsoever to the writing. I think I've got some heavy pondering to be doing tonight.
建物を食べるゲーム、新しいものが建築されて今はないけれど昔の写真とかに写ってる建物を懐かしむ感じとなんか関係あるのかも
An extremely linear "game" that runs and looks like ass, has no options to change the wayyy too slow mouse sensitivity, and a pretentious story that interrupts your every correct move with a stupid blue card that drip feeds you the story about some guy talking to his dead brother about this new job he has where he eats buildings and hopes he doesn't eat anything important. You don't even get the satisfaction to deviate from the main story by eating the entire building or eating in the wrong order to kill yourself.... you get stun-locked for 28 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ seconds where you see red, can't eat, and can barely move (if you force your way through then the game itself will break and not let you continue). This story could've been told via visual novel or a short film. This "game" is made by some guy that decided he wanted to be a ♥♥♥♥♥♥' artiste rather than a real game dev. Yay, you teleported me into 3 rooms with an item in the center that shatters because you think that ♥♥♥♥ is deep.
