The game does some things very well and something that are messy.
the bad
- This is a bit of a spoiler but their kind of isn't really a narrative theme to tie it all together. The story isn't totally about forgetting the past or the importance of the past. Its just kind of a neat a Science Fiction Mystery and that's all it really is, you can try to get a bigger message from this but if you do its messy and kind of a reach.
- After you find the general mystery, their was a good hour spent just trying to figure out the lose end of the time line that really destroyed the pace and moment the game built up
- Sometimes what's going on screen is very unclear, characters will die and it will not apparent at all, especially early on when you have not learned the 'rules' yet. The narration not having the custom names used when someone collapses or messes with a object can often leave you very confused in not a intriguing way.
- The writing can get weird, while the plot gives a reason for the characters to act a little oddly sometimes it really takes you out of it.
-The modern day section is kinda meh and rushed compared to the past plotline
the good
- While might take a second to get into the swing of things, once you figure out how central game mechanics works it rather neat and unique way
- the 'mini' mystery's that block progression are rather fun and when your going through the narrative you feel like your making steady progress and it always feels like a path forward is easy to figure out,
- the 'grand' mystery in discovering the mechanics or rules in what is happening is very good, at least in the first half or so, and once you figure out what is going
- The sound design, character design, and character writing is pretty good and the cast are all compelling and interesting
- Decent length and it feels worth the price they offer
In the end i say its worth buying if you want a mystery game. Its defiantly better than their previous work and am intrrested in any new games this team produces
