The First Berserker: Khazan

The combat is what really makes it stand out for me. Compared to other Souls-likes like Elden Ring or Lies of P — which are both great games — Khazan just feels incredibly fun to play. The combat is fast, responsive and satisfying, and the boss fights are easily one of the highlights. Most bosses actually require you to learn their moves and timings for a while before everything finally clicks, which makes beating them really rewarding. I also really like the art style, and the story is surprisingly well presented for this kind of game. Another huge plus is that it’s not open world (and I am tired of those). There’s no bloated map full of pointless activities, no need to spend hours farming or clearing the same type of content over and over again. You just progress through well-designed areas, fight great bosses and keep moving forward. It honestly feels refreshing — almost like playing games back in the day. For me, this was the best Souls-like of 2025. Great combat, great bosses, beautiful art style and almost no unnecessary filler.
