The Farmer Was Replaced

I liked what I played of The Farmer Was Replaced, but ultimately it was less of a game than I expected, and more of a gamified programming course. Your skill tree contains the lessons and challenges, the harvesting efficiency of your code is your score. I'd say it's probably great for beginners: you are introduced to concepts one at a time, and it is always pushing you to improve your code, in order to be more efficient. But unfortunately, due to it essentially being regular programming, the game has to measure itself with everything else that has you program. Such as more professional exercise/competitive programming websites, or your own passion projects. And personally, for the level of effort the game incentivizes, I'd rather build something useful than harvesting a digital farm. So that is why I did not finish the game, but I would still like to encourage everyone that is interested in programming to try it out themselves. You might like it, and you're not losing a lot of money if you don't.

Kind of short but a fun take on programming in general. As a software developer it was still an interesting refresh on some fundamentals when trying to optimize methodologies. I think this is geared more towards novice/casual players but it would have been nice to see it extended with some slightly more challenging late stage problems. Overall still good though and worth a playthrough.
