this is a charming mystery with agatha christie but gay vibes (complimentary). the setting is lightly fantastical, and the main character, a world-weary supernatural detective, is just really fun. he's grumpy, he's having a little tantrum, he's doing his best.
This is a really well-written and entertaining murder mystery visual novel. I highly recommend it.
pretty short. it probably needed more build up but overall not a bad game.

First of all: the artstyle, aesthetic, music and prose create such a good and cosistently fun classy vibe. I really enjoyed how much this feels written with the passion for the craft in mind, and every character had such good chemistry overall and contributed in one way or another for the themes really well. Lastly: I NEED THAT LUDICAEL MANPUS-->gets run over by a train
That was a funny little VN, but especially with a great art. I thought that the murder was resolved weirdly with the proofs, but that was ok. Funny characters and a weird story with a long introduction (larger than the murder, i think). I like it
When I first started reading this visual novel (VN), I had myself set up with expectations which were thoroughly and progressively debunked. The people who worked on it were very clever in the ways they deceived the audience, and also in the ways they showed us the truth! I also appreciate how the characters felt like they were real people, and not just archetypes/caricatures, as is commonplace within the BL genre! Also, there were some real plot twists in the way this was written, and some proper subtle hints to them along the way! 10/10 Storytelling all around - and with a diverse, well-rounded, cast of characters to boot! If there are only a few things I felt kinda ambivalent about, it is the sheer volume of red herrings there are in the VN (frankly, kind of overwhelming!), and also the way that a certain imp is handled by one of the main protags in this universe. If you know, you know, but you know... his partner and that imp both kind of deserved better, but especially the imp did; even if it did get better later on, and he started showing more of his true feelings & colors, the way he cared more about his image than either of those things just rubbed me off wrong, and left a bad taste in my mouth overall - like, I get why he became a different person as he aged, but he still felt like actually a different person. Furthermore, a critique: please, in the future, let the readers actually review the "mystery" with notes. It isn't enough to simply *know* who everyone is - there are some minor clues & details that might get easily overlooked, if a reader "forgets" them, for whatever reason, under whatever circumstances. That said though, I'll give some credit where credit is due: there are some achievements for the VN that encourage getting all of the different endings; that said, however, after the ending credits, the time loop goes back WAY too far for whatever its intended focus was meant to be! It awkwardly cuts into the middle of, shall we say, a less pivotal moment within the VN.
Very fun to play
The story was good but it was so short ! I want mooooooooore
For a free game, this was pretty packed full of content! I enjoyed the humorous dialogue and trying to figure out the plot and the setting, although it did somewhat frontload the game to the point that the actual murder plot was not as interesting as the worldbuilding and the dynamic of the main characters. The art style was very distinctive and interesting, and I enjoy that the devs put in their own love of fountain pens in at least three mentions (in the notes, and the story itself). The one thing that I found a little confusing was that in parts Faraday would be "writing notes", but nothing would change in the notebook itself. It would be fun to see if Harold and Faraday return in more games in the future!
