About
The Call of Darkness is a story-driven adult visual novel set in a distant sci-fi future, where you play a war veteran on the brink of a new chapter. The embers of a devastating conflict that nearly split humanity are still warm, and as the newly minted Captain of a sensual, motley crew, you’re ready for a more laid-back adventure.
But a prayer whispered in those dark days of war has stirred something Ancient — a hunger from beyond the Darkness, reaching and creeping into your dreams. It has plans for you, and it doesn’t take no for an answer. Its messenger, born from your deepest desires, is both gifted and a guide—but she needs your help before you can face the horrors to come together. Survival may exact a price that may shatter your very soul—as your past collides with a future far beyond what you imagined, and every victory demands a sacrifice.

Reviews
UPDATED: I altered this review as the developer who was super professional and nice pointed out some things I was unaware about. However, I just could not get into this story, to be fair, I am not a fan of stories with gods in them and I was looking more forward to a space theme, as I had read it was simular to having a team like Star Trek, but with an all female crew., but I guess that is further in the story than I made it. If you don't mind gods in your AVNs then you may want to give this AVN a try. The graphics are also not the best, however, as the develper pointed ouut to me there is a slide in preferences to alter the brightness, which is nice. If you are looking for a good AVN on Steam, I recommend: Acting Lessons, City of Broken Dreamers, Depraved Awakenings, Leap of Faith, Monster College, and Sisterly Lust.
Wow so much better than I expected based on first few game images. Love the banter between characters and found myself enjoying this game more and more as I clicked further and further along. Animation sequences were actually better than I expected and I encourage Ace to continue to update and refine imaging to match the quality of the writing. Looking very forward to the next arc in the story! I would consider this a hidden-gem in my AVN collection.
Do you want your star trek mixed with some Lovecraft? If so, then this game might be for you. It's a fun little romp of a dark sci adventure with plenty of eldritch awesomeness from beyond our universe, with some descent choice point stuff, and adult elements for those that want that. Overall, I give it 3.5 out of 5 stars.
The Call of Darkness is one of those adult visual novels that immediately stands out because it actually has personality. The sci-fi setting, the Lovecraftian undertones, the darker atmosphere, and the branching story give it a lot more identity than the average NSFW release. It is built around a war veteran turned starship captain dealing with mystery, romance, and cosmic horror, and that mix works surprisingly well. What I liked most is that the cast feels genuinely varied. The characters are not just there to fill routes or scenes. They feel different from each other, interesting in their own ways, and that makes the whole experience much more fun. For me, that is one of the game’s biggest strengths. It keeps things engaging because you actually want to see more of these people instead of feeling like you are reading slightly altered versions of the same character again and again. My main criticism is that it feels too short for how much potential it has. I had a really good time with it, but it ended so quickly that it almost feels like this should have launched as Early Access instead of dropping a full season this fast while still being this compact. The foundation is clearly there, the setting works, and the characters are strong enough to carry something bigger. That is why the short length stands out more than it normally would. Still, this is very easy to recommend. It is fun, it has style, the premise is strong, and unlike a lot of games in the same space, it actually leaves me interested in what comes next. I just hope future releases are bigger, because this feels like the start of something that could become genuinely excellent.
I received a promo copy of the game for testing, and I genuinely enjoyed the story, action, adventure, and all the sexy ‘fun times.’ The characters are well written, with distinct personalities that feel believable and easy to connect with. I definitely got emotionally invested and I’m already looking forward to the next Arc!
so far the story is great and the animations are a great addition. hope to see more from this dev.
Great game. Sad cliff hanger just about broke me though.
