The Beautiful Island

A beautiful short visual novel that explores Taiwan after a possible war and its impact on the people living there. I played it in German. Pros: - Beautiful story, shining light on the beautiful island of Taiwan - You notice that the author has indeed either lived in Taiwan or talked to Taiwanese people - Beautiful music Cons: - The artwork is sometimes inconsistent—for example, different art styles are used within the game. - I would’ve really preferred if the images of Taipei hadn’t been AI-generated—or at least had been based on real photos. - Some of the AI pictures show two or more Taipei 101s, which is a bit off-putting. - The voice acting could use some work, at least in the German version Overall, I recommend playing it. Although it has some flaws, it is nice to play in one evening and has a nice atmosphere.

A nice and short game. I'd probably rate it about 3/5 stars. It's a nice game with two possible branches. You get to explore the results war has on people from a few angles. It's easy to understand, has a nice soundtrack, and has a peculiar take on war. Instead of showing you the "action", it shows you the effects the war has on individuals who all come from different backgrounds, but the same conflict. Give it a try if you want something to do for the next two hours.

I wanted to give it a chance, but the first seconds bombard you with so much AI I couldn't take it. (It's not even good, of course, the shading changes from sprite to sprite despite the character not even moving)

It's a cute visual novel. Disregard my time played though, I often forget games are still running in the background XD

Very political story... not my type. But what really is a no go are that the whole game is made with AI/KI... The Images look sometimes even non-human. The same character can look non human in the next scene and is back again... Even the whole store seems AI-Generated cause it has so many flaws. Really a big NO to AI Games!
