solid gameplay and all but the artwork is absolute slop for gooners
Holy sh#t! This was free? (hard to keep track having 1500 games, installing and playing stuff randomly) Anyway, this is one of the BEST Touhou Clones I've ever player! HAAAAARD - Novice is about same as Touhou Hard! Or Stage 4 is too wacky maybe? Cool characters and story The intro tutorial doesn't represent the game and gameplay very well, and my first impression was "meh"... Not nearly as cool as Chapter 3 and 4, OMG, Chapter 4 is brain melting. It would be cool if by the end of tutorial the player would face a HARD mob from all sides, like Chapter 4, just to get a taste. The side shot patterns look stupid at first, but they are needed; It's sort of a mix of Touhou and Raiden: Enemies coming non-stop from all sides, lots of surprise attacks and side scum bullets, so sidefiring is important. Cool OST The dialog and gameplay are awesome! It takes some getting-used-to adjust eyes to the powerups and the multiple kinds of shots, and as the gameplay is frantic with some quick, some slow bullets, well, I am dying far more than in Touhou, but it's my fault :V Anyway, good job and keep it up, Devs! I would pay for TF2, but as I read the forums, you shouldn't focus on quick cash-up with a game of this niche. Probably making this free paved a way for fans to buy TF2 some day :V (But then, I truly don't remember if I paid for this heh, I am a steam sale sucker)

Free bullet hell gallery shooter. Tight controls. Beautiful and interesting patterns. Great presentation and nice music. Three different playstyles and good replayability with stage challenges. Great game. I regret not having bought it at some point before it became free. Make sure to follow this game and keep tabs on the dev if you like this one.
"Terra Feminarum" is described by the developer as a "Finnish mythology-themed Japanese-style danmaku shoot 'em up", ("danmaku" just means "bullet hell"), where dodging waves of bullets is as important as shooting, fine, that's the genre (an old, dead and obsolete genre, I'll add). The key problem here is that the game tries so hard to be more style than substance, and fails at both, hard. The bullet hellscape is too noisy to be reasonably playable and doesn't fit too well with the genre, and the theme comes across as well as toothpaste flavoured Oreos. It just doesn't work. What do you do in the game? It's a very mediocre, overly noisy shmup, that's it. On the topic of visuals, the weak looking 2D retro assets seem like they'd be more at home in a browser game or a mobile app. 3D graphics accelerators hit the mainstream of PC gaming in the mid 1990's with cards like the ATI Rage and Voodoo3D, there's no excuse for such poor 2D graphics in 2025. That alone is enough to disqualify this for recommendation. Worse, resolution is locked to 1080p, a resolution that, while still sticking around, was superseded 11 years ago when 4K became the state of the art. And in 2025, locking a game to 1080p comes across as a joke. This game is fairly dated at 7 years old... and even back then it looked old and busted compared to contemporary, professionally made 3D games of the same period. It looked bad then, it looks worse now. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. There's no initial download price, but the developer was charging $1 USD for this. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It seems like a nice gesture for the game to have no up-front cost anymore, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. This is also a bit of a slap in the face to anyone who showed enough questionable judgement to pay money for this... nobody got refunded. In terms of public reception, this failed. There's over 130 million unique gamers visiting Steam every month. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 13 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? I think you should give this one a miss. Although it's free, your time and storage are valuable resources, and the market is filled with superior options.
This game is an absolute hidden treasure and the fact it only has 60 reviews at the time of writing this after being out for 6 years is insane. It does so many thing well and the devs show a true understanding of the genre. Typically when I see a wide aspect ratio in a vertical shmup, my euroshmup detector alarms go off, but this game makes it work and they use that space beautifully in a way I didn't think was possible. The bullet patterns are super creative and just keep getting better, and the game is constantly throwing new patterns and ideas at you. It's rarely just the "big cluster of random bullets" or "just tap dodge the stream". The soundtrack is also god-tier. Sounds a lot, and I mean a *lot* like Mithotyn, which is one hell of an endorsement. It's a constant stream of epic folk black metal and it's hard to describe in words the sheer joy one feels weaving through dense danmaku to blast beats. This isn't a must-play just for Touhou-style fans, this is a must play for *all* shmup fans. It'd easily be worth $20, and the fact that it's free is just incredible. All stg fans need to check this out, and at a price of free, there's no reason not to. Play this.
Me ha encantado! Muy recomendado e increiblemente gratis
