played this game and it was extremely slow paced, super repetitive music (despite having 4 separate options). It makes you think back to starcraft graphics, but you can tell a lot of the graphics/movements were rushed or just not implemented. Buy at your own risk, Im glad i got to test it for free...
"Tep The Destroyer TD" is not the worst TD on Steam but it's not winning any awards. Pretty standard stuff for a TD, drop a variety of turrets on hardpoints on each map and let them shoot all the little guys running along the path. There's a sci-fi theme, but that's just the skin on a rather standard game. The graphics aren't great, this is where I think it falls down hard. They're noisy, and the dark colours and high contrasts give no clear definitions for where your towers are, where the bad guys are... it's hard to see what's going on at all. That's understandably a turn off for a lot of gamers, and it's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarily visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. You deserve better than compromises. You're forced to sign a highly questionable yet legally unenforceable End User License Agreement... for such a relatively low effort, low quality product, this comes across more as a delusion of grandeur than anything else. This agreement includes questionable requirements that may attempt to revoke consumer law protections that gamers expect to have, which is also highly problematic. Developers must learn they are here to serve gamers, not control them. I had my cat walk over the keyboard while the EULA was displaying, which fixed that problem for me. Let's look at the price and what kind of value this actually offers gamers. There's no initial download price, but the developer was charging $10 USD for this. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It seems like a nice gesture for the game to have no up-front cost anymore, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. This is also a bit of a slap in the face to anyone who showed enough questionable judgement to pay money for this... nobody got refunded. Even as a free game, this couldn't find an audience. With a peak of only 8 players, it's clear the Steam community took one look and walked away. They literally couldn't pay people to spend time playing this. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope, even if you don't have to pay any money up front, this isn't something I can suggest PC gamers spend their time on... there's thousands of better games on Steam.
Tepid The Annoyer here feels like a flawed cookie-cutter attempt at a Tower Defense game from someone who might not exactly like TD games. The first issue I ran into is that it is too darn dark. It looks like the assets are decent enough, but you really can't see them. The second was an impossible tutorial. The first two times I played it were impossible, monsters walking from entrance to exit without taking any damage from any of the weapons built. The third time, oddly they all took damage just fine, but this strange erratic toughness of this seems to have infected the rest of the game as well, as I tried to p[lay the first real mission and some would die, while others, far too frequently, would get to the end nearly undamaged despite being shot repeatedly. The creators have, apparently begrudgingly, added on a casual level, but it is insulting easy. At no point was the game fun, or interesting. The tower upgrades are bland, up twice with no variety, and the tutorial hilariously told me to push buttons that don't seem to exist. Let me know if you find the 'hint' button. There is a faint hint at fluff, but it is minimal, no real sense of a backstory, no sign of an index showing the various critters and weapons and explaining their strengths and weaknesses. I will probably try again, but I really don't expect to see anything change. Actually debating refunding this one, got it on a massive sale, and it still feels like too much. Two thumbs down.
