About
Journey across Tempus, a world of floating islands flora and fauna. You are a lonely wizard, once a caretaker of the temporal flows, now retired and hoping for the world to return to what it once was. With no purpose left a call to action comes from a small rock critter, crying for help as it finds itself far from home and lost in the wilderness.
Use your magic to guide the critter and it's family home while you traverse hostile terrain, solve puzzles, fight vegetative enemies and find secrets in this charming student-made action adventure game.
And if you don't want to save the critters... There's always the alternative..
In the world of Tempus, magic is not free. Every action has consequence and as such you must be careful when harnessing the energy of your surroundings to fuel spellcasting. Carelessness will limit your options and you may just find yourself in a pickle.
On the flipside, move without haste and the friends you make along the way might lend you a hand or crystal to aid your spell slinging adventure.
With only a simple projectile TEMPUS aims to provide some engaging moments and fun interactions through handcrafted challenges, puzzles and environments. Take your time to explore a small world and journey through the clouds.
Blast a companion, hug a "friend", the world will carry on without you in the end.
While the main story is short, we've made sure to include several achievements and secrets for curious players to find and hopefully enjoy, give it a whirl if you dare, take a leap of faith and don't trust a flower by it's petals.
Thank you for playing!

ok short game but camera angles suck and there are several annoying "features" (im guessing thats what they are called), gets 3/5 from me.
Audio is backwards, secret entrance is literally advertised on the front page of the game, game is slow paced, no way to go back to revive fallen friends, no explanation of anything other than basic controls. Not enjoyable
Short and simple, just similar to free browser games (even poorer). I was able to find the secret level, but couldn't find a way to pass through it (tried everything I found and still nothing). Was it even tested? In the Internet there is no solution how to pass through it.
TEMPUS: A Wizard Awakes is a small free adventure game that I think has a lot of charm for what it is. I play as a retired wizard who used to look after the flow of time, but now lives in a world made up of floating islands. Things are not exactly peaceful though, and I end up helping a little rock creature find its way back home. From there I am exploring the islands, solving puzzles, using magic and dealing with strange enemies made from the natural world. It is a simple setup, but I like how quickly the game gets me into its little world. The magic system is probably the part I find most interesting. Magic is not completely unlimited, and the game makes me think about how I use the energy around me. If I waste too much of it, I can end up with fewer options when I actually need a spell. I like that because it gives even the simple exploration sections a little bit of thought. I am not just firing magic whenever I feel like it. Sometimes it is better to slow down and make use of the world around me, especially since some friendly creatures can help me along the way. The puzzles and exploration work well with that idea too. The game takes me across floating islands with handcrafted environments, hidden areas and little secrets to find. The main objective is straightforward, but I like looking around instead of rushing through everything because there are achievements and secrets tucked away in the world. The combat is also kept fairly simple, with a basic projectile being the main tool I use against the plant and nature based enemies. It is not a deep combat system, but I think that is fine because the game is clearly more interested in mixing exploration, puzzles and magic than becoming a full action RPG. The biggest problem for me is the size of the game. The main story is very short, and I can get through the main adventure without needing a huge amount of time. That makes it easy to recommend when I want something quick, but it also limits how much I can get attached to the world and its characters. I would have liked more islands, more puzzles and more situations where the magic system could really develop. There are secrets and achievements that give me reasons to look around again, but they cannot completely solve the lack of a longer adventure. I also think the game shows its student project roots in places. The environments can look nice and colourful, but some of the movement and presentation are noticeably less polished than what I would expect from a larger commercial game. The developers have already made changes to the camera and some of the more frustrating parts of the game, including making the critters safer in certain areas and adding a shortcut to the secret level. I appreciate those changes because they show that the rougher parts were being taken seriously rather than simply left as they were. What I like most is that TEMPUS does not try to be bigger than it needs to be. It is a small adventure with a clear idea, a colourful floating world and some fun interactions between magic, puzzles and exploration. I can take my time and look around, or I can move through the main story fairly quickly. There are also 20 achievements, so I have a few extra things to find after finishing the main path. Being completely free also makes the short length much easier for me to accept. Overall, TEMPUS: A Wizard Awakes is a charming little adventure that I think is worth checking out when I want something short and different. I like the floating islands, the magic system, the simple combat and the little creatures I am trying to help, and there is enough exploration and secrets to make the world feel more interesting than its size suggests. The short story and student project limitations stop it from reaching a really high rating, but I still think the ideas are strong and the game has a lot of personality. For a free game made as a university project, I think it is a genuinely enjoyable little experience. Rating: 7.2/10
