This game is awesome AF I haven’t been online in almost a year(got a ps4 and stuck on sims 4 🤯) and I’m still singing BLISTERING IN THE SUN on a regular basis can’t get past that part still recdomemd the game!
Take The Dream IX is quite unique from other Yai Gameworks titles as it is the only game that for the most part utilizes default assists from RPG Maker MV, but then blends in the horror that one would expect. However, the story is very complex, and a bit disconnected at times though that’s probably the purpose. The only real character we see get development is Gwen outside of the moments with Kaito, Luna, and Freya giving pieces of their lore. Sections of the game make no cohesive sense at times and lack much depth to them other than MAYBE the section with Demon King. Would I recommend this game to people? Yes, and here’s why. Even though this is a rough game, it does do one thing exceptionally well. The chaotic organization of this game showcases a certain level of creative freedom that would come from a dream. Usually dreams shift around what the story is about or the current situation much like how the game changes the longer you play it. Not only that, but dreams also replicate the feeling of want and how reality sometimes denies you. Flora was the one thing that you could never get, and because you wanted her that much, you could never wake up. But you know Gwen… it’s not hard to type out exactly two hundred and thirty words, isn’t it?

I'm so normal about this game. I'm so normal and cool and haven't spent multiple days obsessing haha. Apologies for the scattered review, but I'm currently unwell. Alright, on a more serious note - I'm a big fan of Yai's games, I love his brand of horror and storytelling. This game (mostly) uses generic RPG Maker assets, which may seem concerning, but is part of the games overarching themes. Despite the game taking only around 2ish hours for me to complete my first time around, I've repeatedly returned to investigate any leads for the mystery that still remains, an unsolved riddle that the community hasn't solved in the 7 years since it's release. Puzzle & challenge-wise it's reasonable, though I did need to consult a guide for one of them (the melody puzzle), but otherwise had no issues. Despite having trouble playing horror games usually the horror of this game is quite manageable, even if you're usually antsy about these things. Without spoiling it, the story is kinda trippy and warrants thinking on. I do recommend the game, and with it's price tag of... well... nothing, it's worth at least checking out to see if it's something you'd enjoy. I really had wanted to make this review exactly 230 words long to be themeatic (if you know then you know), but I'm having trouble doing that organically, haha. Damn you Yai!
This game is just... awesome!
Stopped caring when they refused to stop bloody talking
I liked it a lot! It's surreal, strange and confusing, but that's done intentionally and fits with the games story by the end. It also balances heavy emotional moments with goofy ones, and scary moments with sweet ones. A nice game to experience.
