Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon

Bought the game on a whim since I'm a sucker for Arthurian legends and it definitely surprised me. For me the game excels in the story aspect and the general design of monsters even if the graphics are a bit on the "10 years too late" vibe. I'd mostly say these pro/cons: PROs: - surprisingly good voice acting for a majority of characters - this Arthur reimagining is incredibly sympathetic and you can feel the weight of the character - a lot of side quests have a very deep and compelling lore to them especially during Act 3 - the cycle of questing, exploring, killing is surprisingly immersing. I usually tune out in most games when i have to do this - multiple believable endings and end cards for minor characters CONs: - graphics look like you're actually playing Skyrim...from 2011 - combat is incredibly weirdly balanced. Either you are a 1 shot god or you wail at a mob for 1 minute and it always catches you off guard. When you kill a boss that has gear for your build though, then it gets trivial - economy doesn't make sense. The cost to upgrade your gear is by far the most absurd thing I've seen in the game. 80k per upgrade after 10 levels ?! be serious - has a tendency to give out a ton of minor quests that make you run around the entire map, artificially inflating playtime - they did my boy Merlin dirty!!! All in all, I'd recommend purely for the worldbuilding and story. And for gameplay, if you liked Skyrim, you'll be ok with this. Personally Skyrim gameplay was always a miss for me but I can tolerate it here. I'd like to see what the devs can cook up with a bit more budget though.
