if you can get this game on sale for under 10 dollars, it'll be an alright use of ur money. anything higher is a bit of a waste imo. the first half of the game- actually, more like three quarters, kinda just drags on. the puzzles are much too easy and get repetitive quickly. the game only kicks things into "high gear" during the final half-hour, in which i experienced game-breaking physics glitches, and objects wouldn't load, leaving me stuck scratching my head because it was physically impossible for me to beat a puzzle. i understand that this game has lofty ambitions for the physics engine, and it's uber impressive the devs pulled off what they did, but i think that for a $30 AUD game, these rough patches easily could have been ironed out. this game costs $30. it also took me under two hours to beat (when excluding the time wasted whilst trying to beat impossible puzzles because of glitches). in my opinion, that is terrible value, which is why i prefaced this review with the "under 10 dollars" thing. for 30 dollars, i'd expect at least 10 hours of content with much more intriguing puzzles, instead of 2 hours of 'make thing big to use it as a ramp.' to put the price of this game in comparison: for less than the cost of this single game you could buy, y'know, both Portal AND Portal 2, two of the highest-regarded puzzle games, if not video games, of all time. but despite those drawbacks, there are aspects of this game i really enjoyed: - the general premise of the game is unique and fun, at least for the first half-hour or so. - the ending sequence was genuinely really beautiful. i really liked the music and the visuals, as well as the narration. - some mechanics introduced are really interesting and fun to experiment with, although they tend to be discarded after a few minutes. - the way the game introduces the core mechanic at the beginning intrigues and hooks the player.
This game has changed my life and i will never be the same. Pure Cinema.
It took me 2 hours to beat the game for the first time, and I just can't recommend this. I love puzzle games, but even being only 2 hours by the end I was so bored. It feels like they had a good idea, created a very interesting concept and system, but then... couldn't come up with any good puzzles. Easily 90% of the game is just walk. Walk, walk, walk, walk.... then grab an object, make it big so you can use it to reach the exit... walk, walk, walk.... The last chapters, based on optical illusions, where you don't even interact with anything (And walk 100% of the time), are even worse. If this is in your library already, sure, give it a try. But I wouldn't recommend anyone spending any money on it. There are so many puzzle games that are better than this.
