About
Capture → Shapeshift → Battle → Reclaim Your Honor
You were training to become a Summoner when a public shapeshifting demonstration ended in bloodshed, and your closest friend was killed after seemingly losing control of their form. Rather than admit that shapeshifting might not be as safe as they had always claimed, the Summoner establishment buried the truth, branded the attack deliberate, and destroyed your reputation when you refused to support their story. Exiled and unheard, you travel to a distant island to rebuild your name from nothing, hoping to earn the respect of its Summoner Masters — and eventually a Grand Master powerful enough to make the world listen to what really happened.
Developed solo by a former TaleWorlds developer.
Capture Their SoulsThe creatures of SumMon are not simply recruited.
They are captured inside magical Soul Scrolls.
Carry empty Soul Scrolls into the wild, weaken creatures in battle, and attempt to bind their souls before they escape. Every successful capture becomes a permanent new summon in your collection.
You can capture multiple creatures of the same species, and each can develop differently over the course of a run.
Become Your SummonsBy dividing your own soul you can shapeshift into multiple summons at the same time, controlling each forms directly in combat.
One summon might cover the battlefield in water while another freezes wet enemies. A different pairing might electrify those same puddles, spread poison across key hexes, or force enemies into burning terrain.
The strongest roster is not always the one with the strongest individual creatures.
It is the one that works together.
Every captured summon develops independently.
Learn new skills.
Unlock passive abilities.
Increase attributes.
Specialize in particular damage types.
Gain powerful bonuses.
Or evolve into a stronger form.
Items can increase certain attributes while penalizing others, forcing you to make real trade-offs instead of simply equipping whatever has the biggest number.
Combat takes place on tactical hex-based arenas.
Elemental attacks can permanently change the battlefield during a fight.
Water creates puddles.
Fire can ignite suitable terrain.
Electricity can charge wet hexes.
Poison can contaminate areas.
Ice can freeze enemies and reshape existing elemental conditions.
Standing in the right place can improve your odds, guarantee successes on certain dice, enable new interactions, or set up another summon's attack.
Your summon's attributes determine how reliable its actions are, while each skill can test those attributes at different levels of difficulty.
You cannot remove randomness entirely.
But you can build around it.
Take quests.
Search for creatures worth capturing.
Hunt for equipment.
Recover in towns.
Choose which encounters are worth the risk.
Every region is ruled by a Summoner Master.
And you only get one chance to challenge them.
Before committing to the fight, explore the region and collect rumors about the Master to exploit their weaknesses.
Your journey is not about proving that Summoning is harmless.
And it is not about proving that it should be feared.
It is about proving that mastery does not come from pretending nothing can go wrong.
The institutions that abandoned you protected their reputations by burying failure.
You will build yours by facing it.
Capture souls.
Shape them.
Learn their strengths.
Understand their risks.
Defeat the Summoner Masters.
Reach the Grand Master.
And become someone whose word can no longer be dismissed.
Capture their souls. Split your own. Become them.
