About
Sudoku Mansion is a story-driven puzzle adventure where you explore a mysterious mansion and solve increasingly challenging Sudoku puzzles.
Sudoku Mansion is created by Nurator, a puzzle setter known for his Sudoku variants.
Nurator's puzzles have been featured multiple times on Cracking the Cryptic, one of the world's best-known Sudoku and logic puzzle channels. Check out the Youtube Link on the right side for an example.
If you've encountered Nurator's puzzles before, you'll find that same love of unusual logic and elegant mechanics throughout the mansion.
The invitation arrives without warning.
No name, no seal.
Only rushed references to missing servants, unstable rooms and a strange invention.
Two sentences have been underlined twice:
"I have found a way to reach beyond the grid. I no longer know whether that is our salvation or our ruin."
Step inside a mysterious mansion where every room is a handcrafted Sudoku variant. Uncover forgotten inventions as you unravel a mystery hidden deep inside the mansion.
Sudoku Mansion is built around one simple idea:
Every room introduces exactly one new concept.
What begins with familiar Sudoku principles gradually evolves into increasingly sophisticated puzzles. New mechanics are introduced one at a time, allowing every discovery to feel earned while constantly expanding the possibilities.
Every puzzle has been handcrafted. There are no randomly generated levels.
Logic should be the challenge, not the interface.
Sudoku Mansion includes a variety of accessibility options to help you focus on solving puzzles your way. Adjust text sizes for comfortable reading, choose alternative color themes, enable colorblind-friendly visuals and customize the appearance of puzzle elements to suit your preferences.
The game is fully playable with only a mouse or only a keyboard and you can freely rebind all hotkeys in the game.
Whether you're settling in for a quick puzzle or an evening of exploration, the mansion is designed to be comfortable to play in.

As you explore, you'll unlock powerful puzzle classes that completely change how you interpret familiar rooms.
A puzzle once solved as a German Whisperer may later reveal an entirely different solution as a Region Sum Ambassador. The layout remains unchanged. But the rules and the logic transform completely.
And those are only two of the disciplines waiting to be discovered.
Each new class unlocks another perspective, rewarding players who revisit earlier rooms with fresh eyes.
The mansion rewards curiosity.
Closed Vaults.
Traps you better be very careful around.
Some puzzles exist only for those willing to question what they've already learned.
The greatest mysteries are never placed on the main path.
The mansions servants have vanished.
Piece together what actually happened as you uncover the truth behind Sudoku Mansion.

Reviews
I'd be even happier it if this game got a Japanese localization!

Awesome sudoku variant game. The puzzles are excellently crafted and there's always 1 logical way to find the next number. You only need basic sudoku solving skills, because the most part is solved by solving with the variant rules that are given to you. This ruleset grows slowly with every sudoku you solve and in the end there are even special rules only working for one sudoku. Best braintwisting puzzle experience i had in a long time!
If you have played neither sudokuvania nor either sudokoids, this review may not be that useful. To you I want to say: Play the demo of this and you will know if this is for you, I think. For everyone else: I am (near as I can tell) far from finished but so far the difficulty feels like its is somewhere up from the Final Transmission but under either sudokuvania. That said, the difficulty curve may end up being more gentle than sudokuvania's (which could vary) and could still just end up in a similar difficulty level by the end, I don't know yet at time of writing. It's main mechanic that sets it apart from its inspirations is very inspired and I like it a lot. It also feels like just the right thing for a game breaking free of the sometimes somewhat negative constraints (ha) imposed by the web application its inspirations use. Oh yeah, a few other things, whitle the kevin macleod music is... servicable, the songs quickly felt too short, so I'd say just turn of the music and play your favorite puzzle chill music in the background (for me it's smooth jazz) Also, story is hardly the focus here, but I'll touch on it a bit. I think sudokuvania and sudokoid really benefited from the parody aspect of theirs stories in that I could always picture what was being respresented and the reliance on these cultural touchstones really worked. I can not say the same for the story here. The "sometimes more poetry than prose" feel of the story is leaving me feeling untethered from the narrative.
Haven't finished yet but im having a lot of fun! I recommend if you like sudokuvania.
I'm a huge fan of variant sudoku so I'm really thrilled to see such a polished and neatly designed game around it! I've sunken so much time already within 2 days and I know I'm not gonna be able to resist wanting to explore more. Also I love the design of the "class" system, I can't imagine how much care went into the design of these puzzles so that it transitions so smoothly from one ruleset to another without any change to the shape. That being said, I did notice the performance being slightly worse when doing boss levels and viewing the mansion map, dropping to ~40 FPS even with my 3080ti. Might be some optimization issue? It's a sudoku game at the end of the day so no big deal but still.
I've really only begun my journey into the mansion - but already I know this game will sit open, for me to pop in to do a quick 5 - 10 min of sudoku puzzles before going back to whatever it was I was doing. As a fan of variant sudoku and the layout style made popular by Sudoku Pad and CtC, Mansion puts a fresh coat of paint with some art deco flair to make it feel like an experience. It slowly rolls out new variations for folks who have no idea what a Kropki Dot or German Whisper is as you build this huge mansion of numbers. Will you like it? Do you like Sudoku - if the answer is yes, then duh. If the answer is no, you still really might want to try it. Most typical newspaper and magazine sudoku is algorithm crafted. These puzzles have been built by hand to maximize dopamine on an interesting solve. Trust me. Day one buy for me and look forward to what comes next.
If you love sudoku / sudoku variants, and you also like your games to have an overarching sense of progression and mystery, this game is a no-brainer. I'm not too far in yet but the creativity in the puzzles on display here is already so lovely. Especially the puzzles with the same clues but unique solutions based on which ruleset you apply. I love it!
I like puzzle games more than most people, but I'll be honest, sukdoku isn't exactly my favorite genre. The hunting and tactics and scanning end up feeling a word search with a dash of logic, or a Where's Waldo for a hidden triple more than I want. This game is not that. This is a delicious, wonderful introduction to the vast world of variant sudoku and each puzzle feels crafted to make you have a-ha moment after a-ha moment as you wrestle with how new rulesets collide. Unlocking new mechanics and seeing how the affect previously unfinished puzzles is cool every time. I highly recommend this experience if you like logic puzzles. The QOL features are vast; the developer is active and responsive in Discord and happy to hear (and implement) suggestions. The whole package is a quality product. Seriously, try the demo. It, alone, is a meaty experience that took me a little longer than I'm willing to admit to complete. 5/5 fun, 3.5/5 (at least in the first chunk of the game) logic difficulty, which I think is a sweet spot.
