Substitute Priest

I bought it right after finishing “...Knew the Beginning”, and this one really shows a lot of improvement. The game's (sadly) lighter on the puzzle side, but the story is more fleshed out. I love this kind of tales — even if you saw some elements of it somewhere else, here they are arranged very well. Oh, and I really didn't expect the [spoiler] Mandalore [/spoiler] cameo — that was neat!

Spoilers Thought it was great, one thing I thought was weird was I assumed the bad ending would involve mass happening with everybody gathered together in the church, I really assumed that's what the game was building up to. I think it should also be mentioned that the priest has not had anything to eat or drink the whole week because it gets brought up at the end and that's definitely something he would complain about earlier. I do like how the whole town just gets crazier as the week passes and he is powerless to change it, so the best he can do is to run and escape the madness, bloodborne has running away as the happiest ending too. There are some minor plot holes but they can be attributed to supernatural events. Like how did the sheep get in the church, I first assumed that he was being framed by the fraternity but it never gets brought up. A bigger question is what was going on with the church renovations, is the fraternity trying to stop the church from being rebuilt or what? Or are the renovations just an excuse for the previous worker in disguise to kill the new priest? But if they killed him then the town would have no priest at all. The sky turning green also isn't explained. I also assumed the town was going to run out of food and there would be a riot since the newspaper mentioned it. Some things don't need to be explained, like the face of the angel statue changing and the jesus statue starting to smell bad, just some things that seemed like they were going to be important not getting explained is all. But the game ultimately was great, I bought it when it was on sale for one dollar so I really can't complain : ) It is ultimately a huge upgrade from the previous game the creator made and I know the next game will be even better

This game is so goood. I did not expect much for <4€ but oh boy I was wrong....

Good game with a great story

Weird, creepy and oddly satisfying.

I liked it, even though its not my usual type of game and style, I still enjoyed :3

Was ich daran Liebe ist das Gefühl wieder mal Spiel à la Edna zu erleben. Der Charme, die Charaktere, der Humor erinnert an die frühen Adventures von Daedalic. Die Rätsel sind auch ohne Guides schnell lösbar, vielleicht sogar etwas zu leicht. Die Auswirkungen seiner Entscheidungen im Beichtstuhl sind jedoch spannend und regt zu nochmal spielen an. Die Story fängt auch zunächst stark an aber wirkt nach einiger Zeit etwas random. DOCH als Fan von Point & Click Adventures der 2000er kommt man auf seine Kosten. Ich bin auch sehr gespannt auf die nächsten Projekte des Entwicklers! :D
