The game is entertaining-ish but not worth 30 bucks. 1. The map and game is much shorter. 2. Figuring out what you are suppose to do and where is unreasonably difficult. I hate looking things up because it usually includes spoilers but I ended up having to search things up multiple times because of this. 3. The lore and story feels messy and unappealing. The ending was the best part of whole game which isn't saying much and even then it was so unearned. I wasn't even aware that robin wanted to go with al-an and idk why al-an is randomly attached to robin. They barely talked to each other and still felt like strangers up until the end. which sucks because I like al-an regardless but the overall story is just awful 4. the vehicles aren't really good. The snowfox in particular is difficult to use and tends to make it so you miss stuff alot. Its only purpose is avoid the snow worm. 5. speaking of the snow worm and the other levithians they are also unappealing and aren't really that scary. 6. the different biomes are... okay. Most of the fauna was pretty meh. I did kind of like the vibe of the eye squid. The worst part is this had potential to be a good stand alone. I really wish the devs did better. This game is probably worth 6-8 bucks and really should of been a dlc instead at the current quality.
The same Subnautica but with more content and on the land. Loved it!
Nota 5/10
It's fun, but does feel unfinished at times. First game is better, but you won't want to miss out on this one too.
Wonderful continuation of the first story. Fills in some much needed lore and really rounds out the whole tale of Alterra vs. The Planet, BZ feels shorter than the first game. It kind of has to be, because the beginning of the first game is pure grind, searching the map for the stuff you need to build up your capabilities. Since they clearly used the same engine, same materials and same recipes as the first game, it would have been unacceptable repetition to force people to re-live the early game of Subnautica. So, with BZ, you get to the mid-game much faster, able to build a sizeable base and strike out exploring with less hassle. The map feels a bit smaller than Subnautica, but is has the same basic layout, with safe shallows, and a variety of interesting deeper areas that get progressively more dangerous. The addition of the SeaTruck was lovely, but if I have one complaint is that's the devs still kind of miss what we really want to do. There's not enough stuff to fill a big base, so every base just ends up with three or four small modules, and then nothing much else. The Seatruck can be made longer, but it becomes slower and unwieldy.... Which would be fine if (like the cyclops) you could trick it out inside with posters, cabinets, tables, shelves, etc, so it becomes a mobile base. But sadly it never quite becomes a proper mobile base, unless you add three or four storage units.. Sonar pod would have been nice.. Or a mini nuclear reactor pod, or an observation pod (all glass)... All of this is just wishful thinking anyway.... The game plays really well. Finding artefacts is challenging and a little time consuming. One snowy area is very labyrinthine, and I totally got lost trying to find things. It's fun though, that you stumble around for hours, but if you keep your eyes peeled and do a little exploring, you can find a quick route to almost everywhere, including back out into the sea. Definitely play this if you liked Subnautica.... The story is so-so, and a little confusing in places, but the payoff at the end is well worth it.

I enjoyed this game more than I thought, due to everyone saying they didn't really like it. I think the reason people don't like it is because it had to follow the original, which was a very polished game. Strangely enough, this was a little less polished. Some of the resources/artifacts were stuck in walls, so you can't collect them... not sure if this is due to the environment changing over time of development and not everything was QA'd. Some of the controls felt more jank... like jumping onto other platforms on land can be frustrating, and even getting into the Seatruck can be hard, where you'll actually interact with moving a module, which then disconnects it from the Seatruck, and then you have to do the daunting task of reconnecting the Seatruck to the modules, but then the auto-rotate of the view in the Seatruck happens because you're facing downward, and you get the point. Most of the researched items felt useless. I didn't use the Prawn Suit that much in the original, but I swear I didn't use it all in this one. For a game that's all about the cold, you don't even need the Cold Suit. Spy Pengling was a cool idea, but poorly executed... it really only matters for an achievement, which honestly should've been required to beat the game, as it was the whole point of coming to the planet. The land portion of this game had some interesting aspects, but overall, it was weak. I was expecting a lot more, and the parts that were necessary weren't very fun because you would definitely get turned around a lot. My last issue with the game is actually a gripe I have with the series, and that's not having a map. I mean, c'mon, you have all this tech, and you cannot create a map that shows the areas you've explored/haven't!? That's the only reason this game can be difficult... you get way too lost, and I don't know if the devs think that's clever or some fun game mechanic, but it really isn't. I know there are mods to assist here, but this should be a core game feature. One more thing, things need to move faster, or the ability to unlock some sort of faster travel would be so nice. Toward the end of the game, I'm getting tired of driving 1 km, just to find out I needed some other thing that's back at my base, so another 2 km roundtrip. This was similar in the 1st game though, so it's not exclusive to this. I really loved the Seatruck and how it was a modular concept. So much better than that massive, stupid Cyclops that I ended up abandoning because it was too slow and large in the 1st game. Unfortunately, I didn't really need to utilize any of the modules other than the teleport and storage ones. I actually enjoyed the ending... it was a fun, visual ride, and I wish it had lasted a little bit longer, even if you're just like flying through space more or whatever. Overall, similar to the 1st game's ending, where it's pretty abrupt. I may have enjoyed this game a little more because I had figured out tactics from the 1st one, which prepared me better for this game, so I didn't get as frustrated when I couldn't find certain areas. And having the beacon unlocked earlier helped a lot. Overall, great game. It really was just a continuation of the 1st game, just a new environment, which I'm totally OK with because it's a fun world to explore. I do wish that if they add new things they kinda force you to use them. And for Subnautica 2, please, for the love of the Universe, add a freaking map!
