tldr just worse version of subnautica 1 cant give OK recommendation, so it's getting a negative should have been little shorter DLC for first game good: some basic improvements, saner (but still not that good) basic recipes placement the first few hours in the game were imo better than subnautica 1 some cool new animals mid: main story, between
alien
and sisters death all around the whole story is just not good seatruck- cool idea in theory, but its not cyclops. its just worse and kinda annoying to steer prawn- the same stuff from first game, i really liked it, but its just copied here new leviathans- some were cool, but they all felt like downgrades from first game statis rifle removed- i can guess why, but still kinda weird NOT to add another (good) tool bad: eating sounds, really was this necessary? MC with a personality, i get this was supposed to be cool story game, but why if the first one had a gordon freeman-like silent guy? fox vehicle- garbage. just use prawn with hook on land ALL segments on land. they were just bad. forced land exploration in THE WATER EXPLORATION game, genius idea|
alien getting more human as story progresses. yeah sure
if you have to pick one- play first game if you liked subnautica 1- you can give it a go, but nothing of much value is added here
Very Good Game.

Below Zero Was...
Some ok fun but... I honestly liked the first game better.
A masterclass in how some games are just better without a voiced protagonist. All of the loneliness and emptiness that gave the original its incredible and horrifying atmosphere is gone the second our main character opens her mouth. And to clarify, this is not because the main character is a woman. Man, woman, child, robot, any voice ruins the vibe completely.

Gameplay still good but this game have clearly more space for making ground bases
This game is similar to the first game, but just not as good. If you were really into the first game, this might be worth looking into, but overall I don’t recommend it. I think I would've been better off just replaying the first game and forgetting that this existed. One of the new mechanics is that you now have a timer outside of the water because it’s cold! Lovely… The first Subnautica is one of my favorite games of all time, so I really expected to be into this one and bought it immediately when it was available for early access. I checked it out briefly, but then waited for the full release before playing, and ended up underwhelmed. I had issues sustaining interest in this game and set it down many times. It’s almost the same as the first one, except for basically every small change they made making the game slightly worse instead of doing anything to improve the experience. I had a lot of trouble finding the resources needed to progress, and it seems like some things were placed in very specific areas that I had to end up looking up. The first game felt bigger, and with blueprints spread out more, I didn’t have any trouble just stumbling into what I needed though natural exploration. The graphics in this one and the performance are good. The music was fine and seemed to keep theme with the first game. The story wasn’t very interesting to me; it lost that isolated feel from the first game and the mysterious journey to try to get home. This game felt kind of played out and gimmicky. One of the things that finally got to me in this one is how much you have to eat and drink. You can turn this off, but I really didn’t want to do that. I just want to reduce the frequency, and it’s all or nothing, which I think is a bad choice since it’s just so excessive. I have to admit, by the time I became determined to just beat this to complete it and push it out of my backlog, I ended up disabling hunger and thirst, disabling energy usage, and disabling depth limits. I never had any urge to do any of this with the first game, but this one just felt like such a slog. Even with all these cheats, the game still kind of dragged on. Ultimately, on its own without the first game to lean on, this game is mid. Though that might make giving it a recommendation easier if the first game didn't exist, but it does, and I just think it’s a downgrade in every way from the first game and I would probably just pass on it. This left me with little hope or excitement for Subnautica 2.
