If you liked Deep Blue Sea, you’ll enjoy this little adventure! I really liked the graphics, they create a great atmosphere for an older game. If you avoid using weapons (which is exactly what I’d do against the sharks = no chance!), the game still works well and actually builds tension. The controls for items are a bit clunky but manageable. The story is solid, and the objectives feel realistic. I just wish there were more shark games like this!
Metal a ryby brácho metal a velký ryby bráško
30 FPS bug is pepega. The price is pepega. Not recommended because of the price and the critical bug which can be dodged by using FRAPS or locking your FPS to 30.
This was a rough game. I had a variety of technical issues, and to be blunt what you get is not really worth the trouble you may need to go to in order to get this to run properly. The game is a first person semi-walking simulator spread out over 8 chapters. It has inventory management, items which can be thrown, documents to read, and some swimming sections, but really a lot of these feel superfluous. For example, you have an inventory, but really you only need this for key items like keys or keycards that are required to progress. You can get healing items, batteries, and other things, but you almost never need these. I never in my whole playthrough needed to replenish my batteries for my flashlight, and only used them just to get them out of my inventory. There are only 8 slots, and this feels more like it was a design exercise than anything that adds depth to the game. There is a stress meter and items that lower your stress, but mine never went up. You are sometimes take damage because of certain scripted events, but after healing once you can get away with never taking damage again and not needing any healing items. The "weapon" you get is also unnecessary, as well as the other enemy-related things that you can craft. There is a very basic form of crafting, but also unnecessary because of the lack of any real exploration, or upgrades, or anything. You could probably beat this in an hour or two if you needed to, and my five or so hour playtime is mostly from testing various compatibility fixes to get the game to run on Linux. I have a thread in the Discussions section of the game's Steam pages that details what I did to do this, but you need to run this with a fix to show FMVs, to use D3D instead of DXVK, and you will also need to find some way to limit FPS to 30. I... wish I hadn't wasted the time doing this, but eh. The story is very basic and is explained to you in full almost as soon as you start the game. And yet, despite the idea that's clearly inspired by something like Resident Evil but in the ocean, it never has anything other than basic sections of avoiding enemy patrols and that are very clearly telegraphed and easy to avoid. For a horror game with the advantage of being able to play on thalassophobia, it's also never scary. There are some underwater sections but these are either all still terrestrial and walking around and avoiding enemy patrols, or short sequences where you aren't in any danger or the danger is barely avoidable. Even the death scenes if you happen to be caught are just very simple screens that immediately go to a game over and load your last checkpoint; no shark attack animation, no nothing. The game was a port of a PS4 game as far as I can tell and all of the control prompts still use controller button symbols even if you're playing on a mouse and keyboard. You cannot rebind any keys, which is super annoying because the keys are bafflingly bad. You can view them by pressing "P" and then selecting "Help" from the menu in order to see what everything is bound to, but just as an example, to use your weapon you hold "Space" to aim and press "Alt" to attach while holding down "Space" still. It's just implemented I think by someone who has never used a PC before or played a game on a PC. Oh, and there is a way to quit to the main menu in that pause menu that comes up by pressing "P," but there is no way to quit the game to desktop, so you will need to "Alt+Tab" into Steam and use the "Stop" button to close the game. The setting and plot of it enticed me, but even on sale, there is so little here (wow, I did not even mention how many of the game's assets like room shape and size are reused) that I cannot recommend it. There is a sequel, and in spite of myself, part of me wants to check it out. But hopefully some kind of substantial gameplay or story has been added because what's here in Submersed has no taste, no smell, no substance, and you will probably forget about this game as soon as you finish it. Oh, and minor spoilers, but in the last section of the game,
to answer what you are supposed to do, you are supposed to drop the item outside the cage when it opens and then press the button again
.
Rougher than shark skin (scales)! Could not finish my playthrough of this game due to a bug with the drowning time. Literally at the end of the game, too! A shame but not surprised as the game is lacking polish all over. The idea is great though and I'd love to see a decent shark thriller on here.
