it awesome sauce, unlimited possiblities, yet me and my friends still figure out how to make a penis
A Masterpiece Suffocated by Its Own Engine
Stormworks is exactly the game I wanted to play. The premise is unmatched: building highly complex, logic-driven vehicles and taking them out on rescue and logistics missions. There is nothing else like it on the market. Unfortunately, you can only enjoy that dream in a vacuum. The performance completely falls apart during normal gameplay, plaguing you with "Low TPS" (Ticks Per Second) that reduces the game to a painful, slow-motion slideshow. The worst part is that it doesn’t even require multiplayer or massive, oversized creations to break the game. Even in single-player, with the map completely cleaned up and only ONE moderately sized, reasonable vehicle active, the TPS drops. Your high-end PC hardware—even a desktop running an i9 processor—sits practically idle while the game chokes. To make matters worse, trying to get help is an exercise in futility. If you go to the Geometa Issue Tracker to report these performance issues, the developers routinely brush them aside. They constantly claim they "cannot reproduce" the lag or TPS drops, choosing to blame individual player hardware, antivirus software, or file configurations rather than admitting their game is broken. It feels incredibly dismissive to a community trying to help save the game. This isn't just a minor optimization bug; it is an unfixable flaw in the game's core architecture. The developers built Stormworks on a strictly single-threaded physics engine. Because physics and custom Lua logic are forced to calculate sequentially on a single CPU core, it hits a hard performance ceiling immediately. Other vehicle builders like Trailmakers or Space Engineers have proven that you can achieve smooth performance with clever engine design and multithreading, but Stormworks is permanently trapped by its own foundation. Instead of rebuilding or fundamentally fixing this foundation, Geometa chose to keep selling heavy expansion DLCs that put more weight on a breaking shelf. Now, they have moved their resources onto a new game, "Anymaker," to build a better engine from scratch. While I hope they learned their lesson about engine limitations, it is deeply frustrating to watch the developers abandon the unique vehicle-logistics game we actually paid for in favor of a "DayZ-style" zombie survival game. Unless you only intend to build tiny, basic vehicles, look elsewhere. The engine simply cannot handle the game's own scope, no matter how powerful your PC is, and the developers refuse to even acknowledge the problem.
not bad but way overcomplicated, it takes way to long to figure the game mechanics out and there are quite a few bugs within it such as a random death as soon as i stepped off the boat in the tutorial
One of the most unoptimized and worst explained games ive ever played, and i love these kinds of games normally.
it is a very hard game but once you get good at building it's a lot easier
You spend dozens building a boat finally get it running well to have the game bug out when you try to spawn in classic mode so try career but the quests are bugged in both modes. So the only seeming way to play is creative ...... so the GAME part is unplayable at least with the current patch.
Overall its a good game, besides some weird lag issues when playing on a single server for over an hour; the game runs perfectly! The only current Issue I have with the game is the multiplayer, it either runs like ♥♥♥♥, or doesn't run. And the stupid jet engine intakes, a spec of water touches em thing and the whole engine blows up; I've quit the game more times then I can count tryna test them ♥♥♥♥♥♥ things. But besides that, all the DLC's are good. I've bought almost all my friends all the DLC's and we all enjoyed blowing the ♥♥♥♥ out of each others work so id say its worth the price. My fear of the ocean will not hinder my exploration of this wonderful masterpiece of a game.
Amazing game with tons of workshop stuff to explore, and many ways of creating your own creations. For the best experience play custom game mode. If you want to life the the definition of Murphy's Law play career mode. If you thinks it ok to send out your unfinished Tanker that can not dock well..... Stormworks will send the worlds biggest tsunami to flip your boat upside down and put your ship on the port.
Game-breaking updates + Game-breaking updates + Game-breaking updates + Game-breaking updates + Game-breaking updates + Game-breaking updates + Game-breaking updates + Game-breaking updates + More Game-Breaking Updates = Stormworks in a nutshell. Would reccomend this, just beware of the common Game-Breaking updates. Devs I beg you to fix this game.
Maybe it's just me, but trying to control your boat is ridiculous.
