yarım saatlik dümenden oyun
Stitchlings is a really cute little action game that takes the idea of fighting toy monsters and turns it into something much more creative than I expected. I play as a small stitched character in a patchwork world called The Workshop, fighting fabric enemies and collecting parts from the monsters I defeat. Those parts can then be stitched onto my character, so the things I pick up are not just simple rewards. They can actually change how I play and let me build my character around different combat styles. The whole thing has a very colourful and handmade look that fits the idea perfectly. The combat is simple to pick up, but I like having the five different trinkets to experiment with. Enemies can drop different trinkets that give me extra attacks or abilities, so I have to think about which ones fit the way I want to play. There are also five collectible cosmetic items that give stat bonuses, which means the customisation is not completely separate from progression. I enjoy this because I am constantly finding little pieces that can make my Stitchling look different while also giving me another reason to experiment with my setup. The world is another strong point for me. Everything has that stitched together toy box feeling, and the enemies are designed around the same idea instead of looking like generic fantasy monsters. There are different areas to explore and bosses that give the combat a bigger challenge than the regular enemies. I also like how compact the whole experience feels. It is clearly designed as a bite sized adventure rather than a massive RPG, so I can get into it without feeling like I have to commit to dozens of hours. I was also glad to see that single player was added after release. The game was originally built heavily around same screen cooperation, but I can now start a save specifically for playing alone. I think that makes the game much easier for me to enjoy on my own, although the design still feels like it was made with cooperation in mind. There is also local co op and Steam Remote Play Together, so the option is there when I want to play with someone else. The controls support two controllers as well as keyboard and controller combinations, which makes getting into a co op session fairly straightforward. The biggest weakness for me is that the game is quite small. The combat and customisation are enjoyable, but I can see the limits of the systems fairly quickly. There are only five trinkets and five cosmetic items listed as the main customisation options, so there is not an enormous amount of build variety. The short format works for what the game is trying to be, but I would have liked more areas, enemies and abilities to give the progression more room to develop. Once I understand the basic combat loop, there is not a huge amount of complexity waiting underneath it. I also think the game works better when I approach it as a fun little adventure rather than expecting a deep action RPG. The combat is not especially complicated and the story is mainly there to give me a reason to move through the world and reclaim it. That is perfectly fine because the cute art style and simple mechanics are clearly the main focus. I actually prefer that the game does not overload me with systems. It knows what it wants to be, and the stitched toy theme gives it enough personality to stand out. Overall, Stitchlings is a charming free to play action game that I think gets a lot right despite its small size. I like the stitched world, cute enemies, simple combat, trinket system and the idea of turning defeated monsters into parts of my own character. The addition of single player also makes it much more accessible for me, while the local co op and Remote Play options give the game another way to enjoy it. The limited amount of content and relatively simple progression stop it from reaching the highest ratings I give, but there is a lot of personality here and I think the game is worth trying when I want something colourful, relaxed and easy to pick up. Rating: 7.8/10
