Steel and Bone was an enjoyable game in the beginning, and slowly became an annoying headache. It got to the point where i was getting lost so often that i had to turn the brightness all the way up which made it so that i was actually able to see around the dungeons, enemies have no variety and attacks are boring and repetitive, never died once in my playthrough which i guess might be a good thing...? And the final boss fight was an absolute joke as all i had to do was stand in place tank shots and spam my attack, didn't have to heal once. I think the style of the game is pleasing, but the music and sound effects get mind numbing hearing footsteps with the music 24/7 lost in the dungeons. The only bugs i found in the game was the enemies shooting me through walls which got annoying but wasn't much of a threat. If your looking for longer gameplay, i will be uploading a video on it on my Youtube channel RiverFilms. Check it out! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNdL2U54uCDcXhhDde3ZaNw?view_as=subscriber 3/10 - Just not fun past 3 minutes of playtime...

So the game definitely works enough that you can get through it and it's a pretty decent dungeon crawl but the play is a bit janky some things don't work when you first try them which really made me second guess if I was doing the right thing "looking at you blocks that would only move some of the time" also I gave the rogue a try after the knight and god bless you if you do as well the abilities seem useless and the teleport that I guess is supposed to make you go behind the enemy usually teleports you in front of the enemy the wrong way and you can teleport into the wall and fall through the map luckily my first play through was the knight and he seems to work fine. I do like the cutscenes illustrations but the starting ones go too fast for all the text I definitely missed some mysteries in the dungeon but at least I got to see the end my play through here: https://youtu.be/5i3G3ajfCQw

"Steel & Bone" is one of literally thousands of student projects infesting Steam. It's from Ahlman Institute in Finland. While student projects tend to be better quality than most "amateur" made games, we must still question what value such projects have for gamers. As with all student projects, this isn't really a fully fleshed out game, it's just the result of an academic exercise, and as such it has much more limited value as a game than a professionally developed game would have. Educational institutions should not be using Steam as a dumping ground for homework assignments (especially if the students didn't even pass the course). Sure, it helps their marketing and helps the students feel good about themselves, but this is another case of a business putting themselves before the needs of gamers. The students made a laughably bad, incredibly repetitive, ultra shallow minimum viable product dungeon crawler, with bad graphics, bad assets, and laughably bad, shallow gameplay. The map layouts are nonsensical, and the whole thing is riddled with bugs that will never be fixed. Great if you like being shot through walls! In terms of visuals, this features fairly low quality low poly 3D graphics which will deter a lot of gamers, understandably. Gaming is a visual medium, and while some developers struggle with creating high quality visuals, failing to do so is a disservice to gamers. It's very difficult to recommend bad looking games. Even though the game looks pretty bad (and decent visuals are a minimum requirement for any game), we can be fairly sure this is not an asset flip. This is because the game assets look so bad, no self respecting asset creator would publish them. That's a fail. There's also the old adage that those who lack the budget and talent to make their own game assets of any level of quality usually lack the budget and talent to do the rest of the job of game development properly, too. This game is fairly dated at 5 years old... and even back then it looked old and busted compared to contemporary, professionally made 3D games of the same period. It looked bad then, it looks worse now. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. This is "free" enough (not every "free" game in the "free" section is truly free, there's usually some hidden price tag), at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, and the cost of a game is more than just financial, your time is valuable too. In terms of public reception, this failed. There's over 130 million unique gamers visiting Steam every month. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 6 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? What's the verdict? This is a "nope". While it won't necessarily cost you money, the time and hard drive space it requires could be better invested in one of the many higher-quality alternatives on Steam.
