Starlight Vega

Starlight Vega is a fun little VN. The art is good (a bit variable in quality), the music is decent but a bit repetitive. There's actually a fair amount of lore to the story. I wish it was better fleshed out, as part of it is really not well explained even after completing all of the routes. I didn't catch any mis-spellings, and the writing is pretty good for the most part. The characters that are presented in the story are pretty solid, and overall I enjoyed this novel. I clocked in at just under 8 hrs for all achievements and routes.

Lovely game that I often find myself coming back to replay. If you're looking for something with a unique story line to pull at your heart strings and make you laugh, you're in the right place! Each romanceable character is a different playing experience which in turn keeps things fresh. Highly recommend! 10/10

Leaving a review out of misguided obligation. Having 100% I thought I'd more to say, but looking back at it before I uninstall; Its just underwhelming. Its more melodramatic than any thing, leaning hard on "context" while feeling unfocused. I didn't care for any of the characters nor getting to know them... All told I wouldn't do it again.

Чи бувало у вас таке, що ви з кимось спілкуєтесь, а потім ця людина щось скаже і ви просто розвертаєтесь і викреслюєте існування цієї істоти зі своєї свідомості? Десь так у мене склалося з цією новелою. Початок клішований, але з ким не буває, я не чекала зірок з неба. Потім з'являється доросла демонеса. І це вже трохи некомфортно, бо головна героїня і її подруга - підлітки. Але на її існування поки можна покласти великий червоний прапорець і пробувати ігнорувати по можливості. Та вже у наступній сцені з'являється якесь мале чортеня, липне до демонеси і зве її хазяйкою. Хазяйка дає створіннячку добрячого ляпаса (це важливо) і вже через пару фраз чортеня (чи як воно там себе самоідентифікує) читає людинкам тираду, що демони, взагалі то, нормальні, а от люди — то справжні монстри, бо у них і бідність, і війни, і взагалі людинки ладні вбити будь-кого, хто трошки інакший. І це все злі католики наклеп на бідних демонів звели (не жартую, тільки перефразовую). Які ж ці католики злі, га? Оно як представники цих католицьких людинкових цінностей жахнулися з прояву насильства по відношенню до слуги (ляпас), але ви не переплутайте, то люди погані, а демони — ні. Як же ж мені набридли такі псевдо повчання. Можливо, років двадцять тому, коли я була малим наївним пуцьвірінком (вже тоді такі речі були неймовірним кліше) я би дала авторам другий шанс - ну, може, це вони просто для галочки вставили і далі буде краще. Або, може, вони бачать усю лицемірність цієї сцени, бо вони ж її і створили. Але авторам не пощастило — я вже велика і дуже токсична, і не маю сил і натхнення терпіти подібні речі. Образливо, коли тобі кидають сотні разів перетравлені кліше без жодної спроби переусвідомлення та кажуть — жери. Страшно, коли підноситься дуже інфантильна та нігілістична ідеологія — люди жахливі, буває погано, тому нічого не має сенсу і всі наші переконання, досягнення та цінності нічого не варті. І дуже гнітить, коли буквальна іншовимірність перетворюється на алегорію до якихось меншин, при чому найгіршим чином — береться символ усіх людських недоліків, цей символ в односторонньому порядку перекласифіковують на "ви просто не розумієте, а тому ненавидите". Ах так, і ще роблять цих демонів конвенційно привабливими, але ми маємо бачити тут мораль "не суди книгу по обкладинці" (це як взяти якогось маніяка убивцю, щось, що ми сприймаємо як зло. І казати — ви його просто не зрозуміли, а це тонка натура, у нього просто дитинство було нещасне. А ще він гарненький, давайте відпустимо, убивця то лише ярлик). Чи я надто бурхливо реагую — так. Проте, мені набридло знову та знову бачити одне й те саме. Мене дійсно тіпало після початку прочитання цієї новели і їй просто дісталося за тисячі інших подібних продуктів.

I started out mildly enjoying the visuals and thinking the audio seemed passable as I gradually got used to the tone of the novel, but then ran into a quirky issue where audio changes would suddenly cause my refresh rate to plummet to ridiculously low levels, something like one frame every two seconds. Exiting the game at this point by saving progress and trying to navigate the mouse to the right buttons at this framerate was an intense few minutes. Funny though, as once the game was closed the problem persisted! I went into my display settings and adjusted the refresh rate and it fixed straight away, but why would a VN suddenly change my overall refresh rate at all? I've NEVER had this happen with a game before, let alone a VN that shouldn't even be resource-heavy to begin with. I'm going to try to play ahead with volume disabled to see if it helps, but I might have to abandon this game. If it's going to mess with my whole computer every time the bgm changes then it's definitely more trouble than it is worth. __________ [i]edit:[/i] Disabling all the sound seems to have helped as I did manage to finish the game without any more major glitches. While the backgrounds are nice, the character models are kind of ugly so it is a bit of a struggle to stay interested in the story. There is no voice acting either. I'll admit to using a guide for different endings - as is typical with VNs with multiple choices, correct paths are difficult to fathom. The story isn't long, and as the MC is female, all the potential relationships are lesbian. I have nothing against this but I find the character Lyria too unlikeable to truly enjoy the story. I'm guessing the story is supposed to be fantasy-comedy but I never really saw a funny side to it. ============== In the end if you like VNs as a genre then you're probably going to get it at some point regardless of what I say. In terms of entertainment value, I'd say wait for a discount, but the price isn't really too bad to begin with. Just as long as you're aware it is a yuri novel (complete with a harem ending) there isn't anything too shocking or groundbreaking within. Kept it as a thumbs down due to the framerate glitch.
