Don't make a main character who has consent issues. She's literally told "I don't like you, leave me alone" and her entire plot involvement revolves around disrespecting that boundary.

Interesting combat system. Easy achievements. Cute and pretty gay characters. Thumbs up!

Stardander Revenant is not a full game, it's more of an e-book ("Visual novel" is another term that writers use when trying to disguise an e-book as a game) that's been launched on Steam as a game, despite barely being one. This is an advertisement/free sample for another unreleased e-book, "Stardander School For Witches", presumably because it's cheaper to pony up $100 USD to dump an advertisment on Steam as if it was a game rather than pay Valve to get some advertising space on the store page. As a visual/interactive novel, this doesn't feature any notable gameplay, it's just a lot of clicking through badly written dialogue that would never have been accepted or published in print, which presents the question, "How did something this badly written end up on Steam?". When someone hoping to become an author is unable to get published in print, they spend $100 and dump their high school fan-fiction onto Steam, under the guise of a game. Visual novels/e-books are tedious at best... imagine the best novel you ever read, be that Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy or 2001: A Space Odyssey or Twilight (if you have terrible taste in literature), but then translate that to a format where the words dribble out and you have to click your mouse every time you wanted to read the next sentence, instead of just turning the pages. You'd think it was garbage. Now imagine that experience, but with much worse writing (because if these guys could write professionally, they'd be published authors and this would be on shelves in bookstores, and they wouldn't have to pay Valve $100 to self-publish this on Steam), and you have your average Steam e-book. There should be a little lee-way on this because the developers did tack on a very badly made lightweight RPG component. I guess that's to make up for the way they aren't able to write to a professional, publishable level. Unfortunately the game component is of worse quality than the writing here. Pretending this is a full game, and not just an advertisement, it's pretty badly made from a technical perspective, with locked resolution and somewhat low resolution art assets, further plunging this below acceptable standards. This short advertisement for Stardander School For Witches isn't a decent e-book, nor is it a decent RPG, so I have no idea who this could be recommendable for.
The magic school i'd love to go to. I enjoyed the sim parts of the game & found the combat fun, I definitely consider this one of my favorite games on steam & i'm excited for the release of the full game.
GAY WITCHES
Stardander Revenant is a super short fusion of a Visual Novel with turn-based combat. Unfortunately, both parts are weak. Even when compared to other free-to-play novels, Stardander Revenant is extremely forgettable. Can't recommend it. Story The story takes place in a School for Witches (and the nearby forest). Griselda, the main protagonist, got a month to prepare for a spellcasting competition that could excuse her from final exams. In the meantime, she's also trying to befriend Dianthus - a grieving girl who saved her life. That's pretty much the whole story. You can finish it in less than two hours, so don't expect anything spectacular. Characters are too boring and too undeveloped to be interesting. The weakly written dialogues and the easy-to-guess plot don't help either. At least the world setting has some potential. Constant fights with hostile faes, death of students on routine patrols, necromancy, and much more. Not a bad foundation. Gameplay The game is divided into two different "parts" - visual novel, and turn-based combat. VN portion is as classical as possible. Click to progress. We got some choices that can lead you to two different endings - romance or friendship. That's pretty much it. Adding jRPG elements to Visual Novels usually doesn't end well. Stardander Revenant is a prime example of that. Combat is tedious and unnecessarily complicated. The UI is cluttered with various columns, long descriptions, and other ♥♥♥♥. Want to attack the enemy? Scroll through dozens of useless spells first. Have fun! Visuals and Audio Visually, the game is not good. There are two amazing CGs at the end of the game. Character sprites are fine. But that's it. Everything else is just subpar. Low-quality music and sounds. No voice acting. Technicalities I didn't have any issues.
Funny as hell, good to pass the time.
