Please remake this with an action combat system.
Knights of the Old Republic is Dungeons & Dragons wearing Jedi robes. Lightsabers clash, blasters fire, and invisible dice quietly decide whether anyone actually hit. The controls are ancient, Taris takes its time, and the inventory feels like legislation passed by the Galactic Senate. Then the companions start talking. A Jedi questions your choices. A soldier questions your motives. A homicidal protocol droid calls everyone “meatbags” and somehow becomes the most reasonable person on the ship. The combat aged. The story still understands Star Wars better than most of what came after it.
KOTOR is a good game. It has good story, it has good build setups. Maybe so-so combat, but still passable. It's just that modern systems are not built for KOTOR, KOTOR is not built for modern systems. If you have never ever modded before, do not start with modding KOTOR to work for you. Maybe start with installing mods for a more established game, like Minecraft. Get familiar with navigating caveats. Mod tools are good, you just have to use your brain to figure out the vague idea of what you are doing in any given modding guide. Modding it into workable shape isn't too hard, but it took me 7 minutes to find the right guide, 30 or so minutes to install everything right, and then 2 and a half hours to figure out what process was incorrectly elaborated in the original guide and what I needed to do to fix it (I needed to do stuff with letterboxes, but running the program where I said no before to say yes later did not work, had to do fresh install). If you wanted the game to just be functional, I suppose it might take 15 minutes at most in the exact processes, but set aside an hour to deal with unique problems you will have to deal with on your end that you will have to resolve on your own. Still, I liked this game and had fun, so I can't say it's bad. Oh, also make sure to save every minute, have 3 saves you save periodically between, and have extra backup saves on top of that. This game crashes about every hour, and when you save can occasionally corrupt the file you save on. Isn't that scary :P
use to play this when it was on the og xbox love the game
Good game if you plan to play on high resolution look up KOTOR Modern resolution patch or know as KMRP makes the game playable in many resolutions and streamlines the process. Also if you have an issue with audio cutting out during cutscenes my current solution is to manually cap the windows fps to 60, doing it through Nvida control panel doesn't stop the cutscenes from running at 144hz which caused some issues
classic. Hard to beat. Still coming back decades later
From the very little I played of this I liked it. The game just crashed so much, I just gave up on it. I bet it's good story wise and what not. What a shame it's broken.
A good nostalgic game that has noticeably aged in many ways.
The game is impressive. The lore gets a bit predictable by the end, but I still enjoyed it overall. Character creation feels a bit limited. As for upgrading, I couldn't get much sense of impact from the skills, even though I reached max level. There are also quite a few bugs. One of them kept a seller from spawning, so I couldn't get t3m4 and had to use the console to progress. Another common bug is freezing after battles. But despite all that, I was satisfied with the experience.
backed me to my childhood It was a really pleasure to drive through that type emotions after almost 12 years
